What’s up ? This is THE stephane ANDRE !!! I heard Olivier Roland’s tips and I learned some good stuff.

A personal trainer who is in the gym where I’m training ask me how to give courses online. But when he asked me this question, I noticed that he didn’t believe it or maybe it wouldn’t work with him. In the personal trainer business, there is part that is an intellectual service. What I mean is that there is a part of this job, which is to give people advice so they can improve.

All the skills that give advice can be turned into a product (information product). There is a huge challenge for personal trainers and service providers who trade their time for money. How to make more money (because there is a lot of competition) while a person can’t be in several places at the same time physically ?

The trick is that instead of explaining the same thing to someone 1000 times, you write a book/ebook, you makes videos or your do an online training program. With these supports, it allows you to save time on repetitive tasks and automate a part of your income.

Some might think that this method doesn’t work with all types of service providers, but with the technologies evolution, it’s changing. We find online training program for salsa, golf, guitar, boxing, mma, auto mechanics, plumber, etc. do some research on Google or DuckDuckGo and see.

For example, you want to learn boxing. Traditionally, you have to go to a boxing club to learn and improve your technique with sparring. But you learn that there is an online boxing training program from Floyd Mayweather. In this training program, Floyd Mayweather shares his best tips and techniques to improves your boxing performance. Are you participating in this online training program or not? I think so, especially if you’re passionate about boxing.

If you have the budget to participate in Floyd Mayweather’s online boxing training program, you’ll be very motivated to do so. Even if Floyd isn’t near you to correct your technique, he has clearly good tips to share with your to improve your performance and your boxing technique.

This is why it’s important not to put barriers to explore new things, to put in place innovative projects because it’s doing things that we learn what works and what doesn’t work.

Avoid Being Workaholic

What’s up ? This is THE stephane ANDRE !!! I watched an Olivier Roland’s video and I learned some good stuff.

There is a trick to avoid being a workaholic that the majority of entrepreneurs don’t do. It’s to have a productive activity outside of work (because the company is based on a passion). If you’re not sure what a productive activity is, you can read this article I wrote. Click here ].

A lot of entrepreneurs are workaholics, which means that they’re work addicts. It’s not really a bad behavior, especially in the early years of the company because there are many new things to learn and few employees. But in the long term, it can block you to achieve the success you should have.

When I say « work addict », I don’t mean that a person is an addict like with cocaine, heroine, crystale methamphetamine, etc. We, human beings, are afraid of emptiness. This is very well explained in the Tim Ferriss book « 4-hour Workweek » . For example, you become more and more efficient using the 20/80 method (Pareto’s law) and you manage to earn 2 hours of free time per week. Now, what are you going to do with these 2 hours of free time ? Are you going to sit and count the insects ? No ! And as today more and more entrepreneurs have a laptop, they’ll continue to work on the laptop.

The problem of working during free time are :

  • Too much nose to the grindstone and do things that aren’t really useful. It prevents you from having peace of mind, serenity, being creative, decompressing, taking a step back, etc.
  • Work to work. For many people, consciously or unconsciously, if they don’t work, they’ll be bored. So they’ll do things that aren’t really useful to be busy. We can call it « intelligent procrastination ». With « intelligent procrastination » people around you see that you’re working but it’s not things that really make your company evolve. For example, spending 2 days choosing the font and colors of your website is « intelligent procrastination ».
  • In the long term doing things that are not really useful for the company’s evolution, will have negative effects. You’ll lose you serenity and have more stress. The symptoms of this state of mind are that you have the impression that everyone is stupid. At that moment, you have to take a holiday right away, otherwise you’ll have a burn-out.

I know it’s a little paradoxical because the first years of the company, you have to work as much as you can because there are lots of things to do and there is no budget to pay employees, but it’s important to have a productive activity to keep the balance in your life.

Usually when you start looking for an idea to start a company, you make a list of the things you like to do the most. This productive activity can be one of those things from the list that wasn’t used to create your company. This can be an activity such as flying a plane, kickboxing, meditation or something else that allows you to relax and forget about work.

Don’t hesitate to write this productive activity in the comment section and if you don’t know, make a list of things you like to do to get ideas.

Find The Gym For Your Goals (Part 1)

I read a Nerd Fitness article  and I learned good stuff.

The gym can become an important part in your life. For this reason is important to choose your gym well otherwise you will become bitter.

It’s not necessary to train in a gym to gain strength or to have a good physical condition. You can do a bodyweight workout program at home (bedroom, garage or basement).

But if you really want an athletic body, you need to have equipment like barbells or dumbbells. It’s possible that you don’t have place or resources to create your home gym (like me), so the best option is to have a gym membership.

Discover really what you want

Don’t do the mistake to have a gym membership in the closest gym to your home. Think about your goals.

Make a list of things you need in a gym and make the difference between « must have » and « would be nice to haves ».

Equipment

I wrote an article in 2 parts about this topic (click here link ). Imagine you have a workout program based on barbell, you need to check this :

  • Olympic barbell

  • Power rack (or at least a squat rack)

  • Dumbells up to 45-68kg (100-150lbs) or heavier if you want to do a dumbell training over barbell

  • Pullup bar/Dip station

  • Flat bench with racks for the bench press

Classes

Gyms offer free classes for their members like kickboxing, dance fitness, stationary bike or yoga. This is helpful for beginners, don’t hesitate to try one.

Amenities

Some gyms offer good anemities like child care, a zone only for women ( my sister came one time in my gym and she said that men stared at her too much) or dry cleaning.

An environment to be focus

For me the gym has an important part in my day. When I train at home, I know I’ll be bothered by my rommates. I find it easier to concentrate when I’m at the gym with my headphones. When I’m at the gym it’s « my time » to me, I’m in my bubble. Everything about home, school, work doesn’t exist. The only thing is important is my workout.

Coach

Gyms have coaches available to help you improve your technique or workout program. From time to time it’s pratical.

Rules

A « must have » rule can be you can bring your childen at gym. I don’t have children but it looks cool for people who have children. Some gyms don’t allow to do deadlift and have vibram  so check if rules match with what you want to do.

A gym membership can be a long-term commitment so look at these points :

  • If you do a workout program based on dumbbells like me, be sure that dumbbells up to 45-68kg (100-150lbs) or heavier

  • If you think you’ll do the Olympic lift, look for bumper plates and a gym that lets you drop the weight.

  • If you think you’ll try kickboxing or yoga later, check that the gym has this type of classes.

Budget

During my travels, I saw gym membership between $9.- and $365.- per month. In Europe, it’s on average EUR 50.- per month but it depends on the area where you live and the amenities offered.

It’s useless to take the most expensive price thinking that you’ll have everything you need in the gym (I already did this mistake). It’s for this reason I’m writing this article to help you to find the best gym at the best price according to your need.

Also think of the usual thing like the towel. Imagine you go to a gym that offer a towel’s service. You know it and you think it’s great, you don’t nee to bring your towel. One day, you go to train at the gym at lunch and the staff tell you that there is no more towels available. It’s annoying.

Apart from the equipement, there are services that are important to know if the gym offer them or not :

Events offer or trips with discounts. Imagine that the gym organizes a hiking trip and member pay only 20.-. I agree, it’s not an incredible discount but during the hiking trip you’ll able to meet people who work to improve their health like you.

A child care service during your workouts. It’s possible that you have to pay an extra of $20.- or $30.- per month. I don’t have children but it looks pratical.

Free classes including yoga that is great for relaxing muscles. I prefer Tai-Chi but there is no this class in gyms.

Location and hours

Having a gym that is close to your house and your school/workplace is an interesting place.

By exemple, if you gym is close of your school/workplace, it’s cool. But the problem is that if you school/workplace is at a distance of 1 hour from you home, you’ll never train on weekends.

There is something I forgot to tell you in gym’s rules. There are gyms that close at 23h (11pm) and I know some gyms don’t allow their members to start their workout after 22:15 (10:15pm). If you work late in the night or during the night, it’s better to look for a gym open 24/7.

It’s important to choose a gym according to your willpower :

  • Imagine you want to train before you go to school/workplace. You do it because you want to train immediately to avoid not training all day or because when you wake up, you’re groggy and train give you energy for the whole day ?

  • Imagine you want to train after your school/workplace. You do it because you don’t have time to train during the day ? Be carefull because if you’re the type of person who is very tired after school/workplacle, you’ll find excuses to cancel your training. I meet everyday people like this.

An ideal location is to find a gym located between your home and your school/workplace. If you can do this, you’ll save time and money. I can’t do that but it’s really effective.

Note : It’s better to pay a little bit more for a gym that you use several times a week than pay less for a gym that you use from time to time. Don’t be fancy.

The Confusion Of Whey Protein

I watched a JamCore DZ’s video  and there is good stuff.

People have a lot of questions about whey and they become crazy. Companies take advantage of this confusion to make money without educating people.

People who are misinformed think whey help to lose weight. It’s for this reason I’m writing this article to explains how work whey. The notion that whey makes you lose weight or make you shredded is not always the case because you have to follow a very special protocol.

There is 3 types of whey : concentrate, isolate and hydrolizate.

Look this metaphor :

  • Concentrate = Mini Cooper

  • Isolate = BMW

  • Hydrolizate = Porsche

 

These 3 categories mean the ability to assimilate, save and rebuilt your muscle tissue These 3 categories have the same goal, the only difference is the speed of protein’s absorption by your body. It doesn’t mean the concentrate is bad. In each category there is good and bad quality.

Whey

The whey is extracted from cow milk.

Concentrate whey has a rate of protein of 60-80 %. The rate of carbohydrate is high because of of the sugar that has in the form of lactose.

Isolate whey is extracted from concentrate whey by a cold process to not denature the whey. The isolate has a higher rate of protein, less carbohydrate and the same rate of lipid than the concentrate. But there is not lactose. In the isolate whey there is not lactose then if you have flatulence, the quality is bad.

Hydrolizate whey is extracted form isolate. The hydrolizate whey is predigested by a a microfiltration process. This process make absorbing easier for your body. The rate of protein is higher than the isolate.

The isolate and the hydrolizate are more BCAA than the concentrate. The concentrate whey is the slowest to go to muscles to rebuild them.

All this works if you do the good things

Which whey take ?

All depend of your budget. There is rich and poor people. But what is interesting is that you can be poor, buy concentrate whey and gain muscle and you can be rich, buy hydrolizate whey and do stupid stuff and don’t gain muscle. The type of whey doesn’t matter because it’s the person who is organized, disciplined and who have goals that will succeed.

When take whey ?

It’s a snack between breakfast and lunch then between lunch and diner. You can take it after training, it’s better to take an isolate or hydrolizate whey because they’re rich in BCAA (amino acids) to rebuild your muscles faster. You can take also a simple source of sugar like vitargo that composed of maltodextrin and fructose.

Now, if you’re drying out, you can just take isolate or hydrolized to gain muscle.

When can take concentrate , isolate or hydrolizate whey (it depends on your budget) with a good source of carbohydrate (oatmeal and a banana) and a good source of lipid (peanuts or almonds butter). These good source of carbohydrate and lipid are better than mass gainer you can buy in shops. These mass gainers are a lots of crap and sugar in there. Don’t buy mass gainers, it’s expensive and bad for your body.

The notion of whey can allow you to lose weight by magic is a scam ! You have to do things right, it means follow a nutritional plan and a workout plan.

Whey is more absorbed by you body with water. Take it with cow milk is less assimilate, it’s a little bit better with coconut milk and almond milk. But the best way for your body to absorb completely the whey is water.

How much gram per meal ?

For men is around between 30-40gr of protein or whey per meal. It’s around 3gr of leucine that is responsible for the synthesis of protein and also responsible to rebuild muscles. Remember 3gr of leucine is important for the whey’s quality you buy. For women, it’s 20-25gr per meal.

How to know if it’s good quality ?

It’s impossible to buy 1kg (2.2lbs) of high quality whey at prices offered by brands. Because most of companies to sell whey at these prices (high quality whey is very expensive), they do what we called « spiking ». It’s increase rates by playing with amino acids to pass tests and sell more. The 2 countries in the world with the best whey quality are Japan and New-Zealand because their laws are very strict.

Second

You need to check there is 3gr of leucine. The leucine must be on the nutrition facts label or nutrition information panel on the whey’s pack. If it’s less than 2.7gr, don’t take this whey, it’s crap. Why ? Because normally you must have more than 2.7gr of leucine per dose (for men 30-40gr of whey = 3gr of leucine). If there is not the dose of leucine on the nutrition facts label, don’t buy it.

Per dose of whey, you should have 25 % of BCAA and the leucine should be at 11 % of the 25 % of BCAA (around 3gr of leucine).

The source of milk should be without hormones. It means the cow should be fed with grass.

The treatment of protein should be at low temperature as for the isolate so as not to be denatured. If it’s denatured, the quality decreases.

There is not artificial sweeteners and artificial flavor. The less ingredients in the whey, better is the quality.

I will not advise you a brand. You’re a smart person, now with these information, you’re able to select yourself your whey.

Searching, studying, have a great physique is not only the body, it’s also the mind because it’s the mind that make the body even more.

I watched an Olivier Roland’s video  and there is good stuff.

Maybe there is something you could outsource in your life or in your business ? It’s good to have something to save time, money and energy.

Exemple

You don’t like your job but spend a lot of time to read job offers discourage you. You can use Upwork to hire someone to do job searches for you. This person will give you a list of the best job offers so you can apply. It’s cool !

Upwork

Upwork  is the largest marketplace in the world to find service providers troughout the world. You will be able to delegate some of the things you have to do. It’s expensive ? Wait, if you find someone who live in a developing country, prices will low compared to the prices of your country. The Upwork principle is not to make work children of 12 years old like Nike or Reebok but to offer work to someone, a respectable job than can make in good conditions.

If you have the budget, you can take service providers from North America or Europe.

Upwork isn’t the only platform to propose this kind of service, this is a lot.

Fancy Hands

Ther is a application named « Fancy Hands »  You download this application on your smartphone, it’s a virtual assistant’s team in U.S.A (until now the only langage is english) and you can ask everthing. There is a « + » button and you can ask something by voice, text or photo.

I show some exemple :

  • Can you find my the three best piano school next to my house ? Of course when you completed your profile you wrote your address.

  • I’m a HSBC Premier’s customer. I would like to know if when I buy a flight ticket, I have rights entitled to an health insurance ?

  • Can you call UPS ? Because they came to my house and they left a note. I must call them to have a new appointment but I don’t have the time. Can you ? You take a picture of the note so that they have all the information and it’s ok.

It’s simple things. You can delegate to them tasks of research, booking of restaurant, hotels or flight.

If you make a thesis or dissertation for your studies at the univerity, you have to put scientific references on what you write. Usually, people advise you to hire a research assistant. Now, you can find one quickly on these platforms. A Students don’t have money ? If you work with someone from a developing country, I’m sure it works with your student budget.

They save your time to focus on what is important for you

You don’t have an Upwork’s account ? Go and create it. It takes a few seconds and it’s free. I advise you to do this and spend 10 minutes a day to find the things you can delegate.

Even in your job you can delegate repetitive tasks. Warning, check if it’s legal for you to outsource a part of your job. Check with your employer or a lawyer.

By doing that you will acquire a new skill. Image how would be your life if you can outsource most of repetitive tasks you don’t like to do. You will develop this outsourcing skill. In the 21st century, we will delegate more things to services in the Cloud and this will increase.
