3rd step – organize yourself and communicate

organize yourself

Organize

Managing your schedule helps limit stress and to do that, here’s what you can do :

  • Prevent an additional 10 to 20 minutes on your travel times.

  • Make a list of priority tasks to do and not to do.

  • Identify bad habits, tasks to eliminate and tasks to delegate.

  • Automatize a maximum of tasks.

  • Focus on taks that immediately bring visible results

  • Avoid to scatter you.

  • Stop these time consuming habits like reading your emails as soon as they arrive of watching your smartphone as soon as there is a notification. Tamagochi  is a toy, not a lifestyle.

  • Do things in their time. Each task, even minimum, must be completed before moving on the next one. This method allows you to improve your concentration and the satisfaction of having completed a task is very motivating.

  • Pause during the day and cultivate your patience. In a situation where you have to wait, take the time to relax instead of sighing and complaining. For example in a queue for a counter, use that : Wait = relax and breathe deeply. Concentrate on yourself in a positive way and on the present moment.

Communicate

  • Stress is often born from the fact that we don’t know what our interlocutors expect from us. We can’t read people’s minds, so don’t hesitate to ask clearly what people expect of you. Dare to ask questions and create a direct communication. Banish your ego and think that you aren’t absolutely right. You can also avoid sensitive topics.

  • Say « no ». If you can’t render a service someone asks you because you have no time or no resources or you don’t want to take additional responsibilities, then explain that to your interlocutor. Your interlocutors will understand the situation and you will find an arrangement. It’s better to say « no » from the start than to force yourself to keep your commitments. With this attitude, you will avoid being overwhelmed.

4th step – turn away or adapt and accept

turn away

accept

  • Avoid the trigger elements of stress. Limit your contact with people who stress you. Be aware of your environment and control that. For example, use an alternative road to avoid traffic jams. Turn off TV to avoid listening to information that makes you anxious. If you did the analysis of 20% of sources that bring you 80% your stress, you know the people that you must see the minimum or eliminate them from your contacts.

  • Adjust yourself by being willing to compromise. Be assertive by adapting your requirements and avoiding perfectionism.

  • Reframe conflicts by analyzing the problem in a positive way. Look at good things and find benefits of the situation. Focus on positive elements.

  • Accept the trigger of stress and admit that you can’t control everything.

  • Looking for opportunities to improve yourself. Concentrate on what this stressful situation can teach you. Follow the principle of this quote : « What doesn’t kill you , make you stronger » and ask yourself these questions : « How can I get better with this experience ? What did I learn ? ».

  • Forgive. Accept that others make mistakes (because you also make mistakes) and try to evacuate any feeling of anger. When you free yourself from all this negative energy, it’s easy to resume your projects.

In summary « The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another » as William James said.

Studying Success

study success

I watched an Olivier Roland’s video  and I learned good stuff.

Here a quote from Jim Rohn : « Success leaves clues».

In all areas, you can study how others have succeeded.

To understand the concepts of studying success in a good way, I’ll take the magician’s exemple. A magicien make a show in front of thousands of people and what happens is that thousands of people see things that doesn’t exist and doesn’t see things that exists. Thinking about that, we’re always impressed by the magicien show because they do things we have never seen.

How learn

Studying success is the opposite. You need to see the things that exist but are hidden and not let you blinded by illusions.

To be able to study success successfully, there are a few tricks :

  • Read biographies or autobiographies of successful people in your field. It‘s even more interesting to read the biography after the person is dead because the hidden elements are revealed.

  • You can meet successful people if they’re still alive to ask questions or participate in a seminar.

Collecting the knowledge of successful people will help you speed up your success.

Techniques subtleties

study success

It’s like when I learned a Pencak Silat’s technique (Indonesian martial art). My teacher showed me a technique and I said to myself : « Oh, it’s easy ! ». After 3 attempts, I realized that it was difficult. I couldn’t perform this technique and I didn’t understand how to do it.

After a few minutes, I asked my teacher how he did that. You have to know ask for help to unlock a situation and not take it as a weakness.

My teacher explained to me that brute force wasn’t the most important element in this technique. You have to know how to use gravity and angle. Click, I had the technique and even I was surprised by the result. But my technique is much less fluid and « aesthetic » than my teacher (it’s nice to see when my teacher does this). I still have a lot of work to do.

Focus on things that exist and stop being disturbed by illusions (newspapers, magazines, gossips, etc). Look for the source by being in direct contact with people who are successful in your field.

By Word Of Mouth

word of mouth

I watched an Olivier Roland’s video  and there is good stuff.

Talk about word of mouth because a lot of time we hear : «  anyway marketing is useless because if your product is good, it will spread naturally with word of mouth, people will recommand it ».

It sells itself

it sells itself

Olivier Roland talked with a guy who is responsible of marketing operations of his book « Tout le monde n’a pas eu la chance de rater ses études » (in english : Everyboy didn’t have the chance to fail his/her studies). Olivier Roland tell him for the next months, he will be focus on promoting his book. The responsible of marketing operations tell to Olivier Roland that if the book is good, the first readers will talk about to their friends.

Olivier Roland replied that precisely it’s important to make the maximum of promotion of the book to have the maximum of first readers.

If you think you product is so good that it will trigger a good word of mouth. Is it better that it’s already triggered with the first 15 or 100 people you talk about or 10 000 people who will have seen the marketing campaign and buy your product ?

If you think that each person who buy your product will recommand it to another person. Is it not better to do a big marketing campaign because you know that the return on investment will be 2 times higher than what you would have if nobody recommanded your product ?

The truth is word of mouth is often use as an excuse to do nothing. We must do the opposite. If you have a good word to mouth with your product, you should do the maximum for the marketing campaign because you will have :

  1. A direct return on investment that can be measured over the duration of the marketing campaign

  2. An indirect return on investment that is long term because each customer who buy your product because they saw your marketing campaign will also recommend it to one or more people.

Conclusion

When you have a great product that have a good word of mouth, it’s the moment to do the maximum to promote it, do a big marketing campaign several months after its launch.

The next time when a person tell you : « Don’t worry, your product is so good that it sells itself ». Take a deep breath and explain to this person that it’s precisely because the product is good, a big marking campaign is good to reach the maximum of people.

Look movies, regardless of whether the movie is good or bad, there is always a big marketing campaign. Then the word of mouth decides if the movie stay in the box office or not. Do a marketing campaign for your product like a marketing campaign for a movie.

There is a lot of good products than haven’t been successful because of this excuse. Don’t be the next.
