What’s up ? This is THE stephane ANDRE !!! I watched an Olivier Roland’s video and I learned some good stuff.

I discovered what it was an infopreneur by reading Tim Ferriss‘s book « 4-Hour Workweek ». It was a book that was recommended in a personal development’s blog and this book has completely changed my way of seeing a « job ». This is definitely a point of view that we don’t learn at school, even at business school.

The profession of infopreneur is a very interesting profession and evolves all the time because of new technologies. In fact, if you don’t know, an infopreneur is a person who earns money on internet with information products. These information products aren’t news but they’re information to help people achieve a goal on a specific area.

What is special about this job is that we enable people to be more effective in things that are important to them and the result is that they’re happier.

Workplace

One of the advantage of this job is geographical freedom. The company is based on internet, which means that you only need a computer and an internet connection to work. There is no obligation to go to a workplace, you can work every day in a different place or in a different country as long as you have access to an internet connection. There are more and more jobs that allow you to have this freedom like programmer, virtual assistant, bookkeeper, data entry, copy writing, translator, travel agent, transcriber, etc.

It’s a profitable business because selling information on internet makes it easier to reach a large number of people with little money.

Distribution

Imagine how it was to sell a book before the invention of printing. Even if you had written the best book in the world, it was hard to live on it. Imagine, so that 2000 people can read your book, you needed 2000 handwritten copies of your book. Copying books was not a really cool job, so you can imagine how complicated it was. If you offer me a job that consists of copying 2000 books of 300 pages, I’ll answer you : « No, thanks !!! ».

With the invention of printing, authors started earning more mony because more people could read their books and that to increase later with the invention of copyrights.

With digital books (ebooks), it’s possible to sell 100 or 1 000 000 books without the huge costs of printing, distribution, storage and return management. There are still costs but they’re very low for the servers and the support (for example a client didn’t receive the email to download the ebook).

With internet, it give you the opportunity to manage the distribution of your information products yourself. Before internet, you had to have an appointment with a manager of a radio, television to reach as many people as possible. If this manager liked your work, you could have ads on radio, television but if this manager didn’t like your work, no ads.

Many talented people couldn’ have a great exposure to make known their talent because of these « Gatekeepers ». Internet allows you to no longer need to these gatekeepers to reach a large number of people.

I often meet entrepreneurs who do their own accounting and they say it’s a nightmare. Here are the 2 reasons why I advise them to stop :

  1. Accounting requires a lot of time.

  2. It’s extremely easy to make a mistake. Even certified public accountants make mistakes. The problem when there is an error in your accounting is that all the numbers are wrong. And when all the numbers are wrong, you tax return is false and when your tax return is false, you are in a long-term nightmare.

It’s possible to find a good accountant for around $1 200 a year when you start a company. It’s always better to pay that than to be in a financial nightmare for 5 years because of a mistake in your tax return.

What’s cool is that with WordPress and its free plugins and themes, it’s easy to install and manage a blog / website. There are also other platforms that allow you to do the same thing.

On the other hand, when there is a major problem that exceeds your skills, it can be negative for your company. For example,your blog / website no longer responds. If you don’t know how to do, you can spend 2-3 days trying to understand the problem and it’s been 2-3 days since your audience no longer has access to your blog / website.

At that moment, you need an IT provider. This is not a person you will hire as an employee but it’s a person to whom you can entrust all the technical tasks that you don’t knew how to do.

Yes, it will cost money but ask yourself this question : « Is it better to spend 2-3 says repairing your blog / website is down or pay a IT provider who repairs it in 1 hour ? ».

I advise you to find a IT provider quickly when you start making money with your company before having a major problem. Maybe someone around you knows a good IT provider or maybe you need to find one on Upwork. Test this IT provider with a small task to find out if her is competent or not.

It’s something to delegate but not as fast as the technique. At the beginning, it’s important to do customer support yourself to be in direct contact with the audience to see the problems in services or products, etc. But that doesn’t mean that customer support is the best added value task that the company’s founder can do.

With customer support, you will quickly see that there are often the same questions that are asked. To eliminate much of the customer support is to make a FAQ. A FAQ is the list of questions most frequently asked with a reply.

For other questions that are a little more complex that are are common, you can do a procedure to explain to the people who take care of your customer service how to solve the problem. And you can ask them to inform you when a question is frequently asked to have a permanent feedback. This allow you to stay in touch with reality.

Maybe someone around you knows a good customer support provider or maybe you need to find one on Upwork. Test this customer service provider with a small task to find out if her is competent or not.

Social media

Since you have a blog or a website, you have an audience. This audience sends you messages when you create content. This is the same principle as for customer support, it’s important at the beginning that you answer the messages yourself to discover your audience. You will know the fears and the hopes of your audience. It’s important that you learn how to communicate with your audience.

To find out what things to delegate, you need to be aware of seeing where you bring the most added value to your company as a founder, it’s about innovation, strategy and setting up processes. This allows you to work on your company and not work in your company.

It’s important to know the difference between working on your company and working in your company (being a slave to your company).

I told you there was a way to find IT provider, customer service provider and social media provider on internet. The best known platform for finding freelancers or outsourcing is Upwork . You will find providers from several different countries. Always test a provider with a small task that doesn’t have a huge impact on your company to make the selection.

3 Words To Say Everyday

I read a Nerd Fitness article  and I learned good stuff.

When I was a child, I was reserved and I was full of nonsense. I let go of thinks in my bedroom and I was doing everything at the last moment.

Few years later by doing research on internet about personal development, I found 3 words that help me to build health habits, improve my strength training, prepare meals in advance and pay my bills.

It’s very effective and simple. These 3 words are : Do it now.

Often after using something , I left it there and there were tasks that I would leave aside to do the when I was less busy. Do you do that ?

When I came home, I played video games. I bought preprepared foods to save time in the kitchen. And of course, I had beers in my rucksack.

Looks at what was going on :

  • I went looking for a plat but all plates were dirty in the sink

  • After cleaning a plate and eating, I left the dirty plate in the sink.

  • After playing video games, I wanted to sleep but there was a bunch of clean clothes to put on my bed. Bam, I put my clothes on the side and I sleep.

  • I woke up and all my clean clothes were on the floor.

  • I went looking a plate for my breakfast and I saw a bunch of dirty plates in the sink, Bam, I shouted insults in the kitchen.

Every morning, I had a negative state of mind. I was a lazy dumb

Avoid overworking

When I was looking personal development website, I found this Art Of Manliness video . It’s Do It Now  .

When I watched it I said : « Shit, it’s me. It’s sucks ! ». When I wanted to change, I found some tips of Leo Babauta  and this motived me to :

  • Buid new healthy habits

  • Put my clean clothes in the closet instead of throwing them on furnitures

  • Clean plates immediately after eating. Now in the morning, everything is ready for my breakfast.

  • When I receive a mail, email or a message from my social media, I answer immediately instead of doing a reminder and responding later.

It’s my responsability

Do you noticed when you put something aside, you should manage it some day ? But I noticed when it happen, I must manage a lot of stuff in the same time that I had set aside.

Be indifferent to things

When we put something aside, it means that we’re indifferent. The problem is the day where we should manage it, we’re too tired.

Mental stress

Without knowing it, we accumulate mental stress by seeing things that have to be done. By exemple when I see a bunch of dirty plates in the sink. I know I need to clean them but I don’t do it.

Wait the deadline

A great exemple of a time when indifference and mental stress reach the maximum. I need to have more time to make my tax return and I have some hours left. Watch this beautiful Homer Simpson’s video , you’ll like it.

Wait, I’ll show how it went. It’s funny because my brother to the same thing now :

Clean clothes on my bed

It was always a problem before sleep, especially when I brought a girl back to my bedroom.

Train later in the day

Somedays, I was able to train in the morning but I didn’t do it. All of a sudden, it’s 23h (11pm) and I still don’t train. I trained at home because the gym closed.

Don’t write an article

Somedays, I didn’s write an article on my blog because there were a lof of cool stuff on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat ou this on Youtube . I had to write 2 articles the next day.

Do it now

By putting things aside, we find ourselves doing a lot of work because everything ends up at the same time. « Do it now » allow us to do 3 importants things :

Less work

We can work less and have the same results. Why work more and have more stress ?

It’s done

Anyway we have to do this task so let’s do it now. In this way, it’s done.

Less mental stress

Each time we make procrastination, we worry more about this task in our subsconscious. Improve our subsconscious, it’s improve our lives.

Do you know the 3 seconds techniques to talk to a girl ? it’s the same to do a task, more you wait and more doubt will make you become lazy.

Train today

If you do your training at the end of the day, do a micro train when you wake up. Do pushups and abs to be in mode « I’m in good shape ». This is will help you to stay motivated to do your training after school/work.

Cook meals for all the week

If you cook all your meals for the week, do it on Sunday. Prepare all your meals in advance to avoid to eat unhealthy during school/work. You don’t have excuses.

Emails

If you want save time with your emails, read and answer immdiately or archive.

Dirty plates

If you want clean plates everytime, clean your plates after eating.

Clean clothes

When your laudry finished, immeidately put it in your closet.

Letters

Open the letter and manage it immediately.

By Word Of Mouth

I watched an Olivier Roland’s video  and there is good stuff.

Talk about word of mouth because a lot of time we hear : «  anyway marketing is useless because if your product is good, it will spread naturally with word of mouth, people will recommand it ».

Olivier Roland talked with a guy who is responsible of marketing operations of his book « Tout le monde n’a pas eu la chance de rater ses études » (in english : Everyboy didn’t have the chance to fail his/her studies). Olivier Roland tell him for the next months, he will be focus on promoting his book. The responsible of marketing operations tell to Olivier Roland that if the book is good, the first readers will talk about to their friends.

Olivier Roland replied that precisely it’s important to make the maximum of promotion of the book to have the maximum of first readers.

If you think you product is so good that it will trigger a good word of mouth. Is it better that it’s already triggered with the first 15 or 100 people you talk about or 10 000 people who will have seen the marketing campaign and buy your product ?

If you think that each person who buy your product will recommand it to another person. Is it not better to do a big marketing campaign because you know that the return on investment will be 2 times higher than what you would have if nobody recommanded your product ?

The truth is word of mouth is often use as an excuse to do nothing. We must do the opposite. If you have a good word to mouth with your product, you should do the maximum for the marketing campaign because you will have :

  1. A direct return on investment that can be measured over the duration of the marketing campaign

  2. An indirect return on investment that is long term because each customer who buy your product because they saw your marketing campaign will also recommend it to one or more people.

Conclusion

When you have a great product that have a good word of mouth, it’s the moment to do the maximum to promote it, do a big marketing campaign several months after its launch.

The next time when a person tell you : « Don’t worry, your product is so good that it sells itself ». Take a deep breath and explain to this person that it’s precisely because the product is good, a big marking campaign is good to reach the maximum of people.

Look movies, regardless of whether the movie is good or bad, there is always a big marketing campaign. Then the word of mouth decides if the movie stay in the box office or not. Do a marketing campaign for your product like a marketing campaign for a movie.

There is a lot of good products than haven’t been successful because of this excuse. Don’t be the next.
