Two Words To Improve The Life

I read a Nerd Fitness article  and there is good stuff.

The last time you stopped a book at the half ? The last time you walked away during a movie ? The last time you stopped a video game before you beat it ?

« Finish what you start ! », that what my parents tell me and I think is the same thing for you. The good new is parents don’t have right all time. In fact, there is a lot of reason why we need to stop something we haven’t finished.

Here two words that allow us to stop things we don’t like to do : Stop and No, thanks.

Human being like progress. We like check empty boxes and say : « It’s done ! ».

I’m sure, if you begun a book, movie or tv show several days ago, you will do everything to finish it. You want to finish it even if you don’t like it, just to say : « it’s done ».

Remember, ours lives on this earth are limited, so, we need to spend the maximum of time to do things that make us happy. Say : « I need to finish it » is not applicable.

This phenomenon is : « I already begun or I already paid, now I must finish ! ». It’s called « Sunk Cost Fallacy » and there is a good explanation in LifeHack .

Think of all the things you begun and after you realized that is not interessting but you continue to the end like tv shows, books, projects, restaurant’s meal, a crappy relationship or you career (watch this TED’s video  ).

It’s OK to stop to do crappy things in your live to do things that make you happy. It’s not because you begun that you must finish.

We know guts is necessery to have long term success, but spend time and energy to do things with stubbornness and obstinacy isn’t the recipe for success.

We do things in ours lives because we simply begun to do them one time. Stop everything is useless, but stop things we don’t like to do can allow us to use this time and this energy to improve things we like to do.

Say No, it’s cool

Did you watch Jim Carrey’s movie « Yes Man » ? Do you do like Jim Carrey ? Do you do things out of obligation or because you’re afraid to miss anything incredible ? The truth is your life is a piece of shit if you say « yes » to everything.

Say « No » to opportunites, trips and request look terrifying. When you say « No », you ask yourself if you miss something great. But this allow you to focus on important things like take care of yourself, take care of your health and spend time with people who are important for you.

Eric Barker talk about it in his blog   :

« No » creates focus.

Warren Buffett once said : « The difference between successful people and very successful people is that very successful people say « no » to almost everything ».

And that’s what gives them the time to accomplish so much.

Everything is said. We should stop to say « yes » out of obligation. How many nights you went and it was sucked ?

« No, thanks » allow you to avoid to do not interesting things to focus to spend time with family/best friends, improve a skill or an exercice or to learn to cook a health meal.

Everyone complains to don’t have enough time in a day, but we don’t take time to select what is important and what is not important.

Here is a manual to is from today :

  • Stop something – Stop a book, a movie, a project that doesn’t interrest you anymore

  • Say « No » to something – Say « No » to something that you do usually out of obligation and spend your time to do something important or something that makes you happy.

In my case :

Pour mon cas :

  • Stop something – I unsubscribed me from several YouTube channels. Now, I have only YouTube channels that teach me something. I subscribed to 18 YouTube channels and it’s perferct.

 

  • Say « No » to something – I say « No » to a party (reunion) with old students of the primary school. I have enough with parties where everybody repeat same memories. However a old friend put me a word on my door, blablablabla but no. Instead I recover and I’m learning the human anatomy to learn deeply how muscles work during training. Serioulsy, it’s cool.

Remove The Belly

I watched a Jamcore DZ’s video  and there is stuff to share.

How to have no more belly ? A machine seen on tv ? A rough diet ? A supplement like a pill ? First these things worked for you ?

Before I tell your the secret to have no more belly, listen this story.

Story

This is the Bobby’s story. A handsome guy with a nice body. He was famous in the gym where he trained. Bobby liked his physique and make selfies everytime. Bobby was proud and everybody liked him. One time, in the gym, he discovered Stacey who made a selfie of her booty. BOOM, he looked her, she looked him and they felt in love.

3 months later, they get married. 9 months, they had a baby, Wayne. Now Bobby must work harder to support his family but the problem is he can’t train because he has no more energy. When he looks his mirror, he sees something on his abs growing and growing.

He notices than Stacey gains also weight. Bobby and Stacey are depressed because of theirs bodies. They remember the selfies and they’re more depressed. Bobby suffers and everytimes he says to himself : « This monday, I go to train ! » and when the monday comes, he has no more energy. Stacey can’t cook, she has no more energy because she take care of Wayne. So they eat burgers and pizzas. Right now, Bobby can’t see the mirror because he gained 30kg (66lbs).His best friends is the ground, he looks only it.

How to do to help Bobby and Stacey. Bobby can’t help Stacey because he can’t help himself. They need to find a solution because by this way, Wayne will be overweight. Bobby and Stacey don’t want other students laught about Wayne’s weight.

The Secret

The secret ? Be responsible of your body. Stop to listening bullshits like with a diet, pills or exercice, you can make your belly disappear ! Be organized ! Seek the person inside of you who want a better health. Be organized to reach your goals.

Environment

Change your friends. Negatives friends, friends with bad health, don’t see them no more except if they want to change theirs lifestyle with you.

Change food in the kitchen. Throw out all junk food and buy healthy food like fruits, chicken, tuna, oatmeal, olive oil, peanut butter (homemade), etc. Learn to cook healthy meals. Cook together it solidifies the family. You are a team.

Food

Prepare meals in advance for all day. By this way you don’t eat junk food and you don’t lose your money. Women, naturally, have more fat than men and it’s normal because it’s to be pregnant. Men don’t have excuses. When you manage your foods, you don’t have overweight’s problem. It’s true, plan meals in the day.

When you have the time to watch a tv show, you have the time to cook. You can watch your tv show in the weekend. Foods before tv shows ! Internet is a beautiful source of healthy recipes, it’s simple.

Stop eat pizzas, ice-cream, etc. Move, find the person inside you who want do something, no one who wait for a magic spell. This one is lost forever !

Sleep Well

This article is the first article of « Body Massacre » that document my body’s evolution. I thought to do an article about my physique with a picture, my bodyfat percentage and my measurements but I’ve changed my mind.

In the locker room, I was talking with a gym’s member who telling me he was happy because he had spent three days without training. He thought train today was going to be difficult but he had a lot of energy. I explain it’s normal because the body needs to rest to repair and build new muscles. Sleep as much hours as possible and have a day to rest is super important.

He knows that I train everydays but I told him that I sleep 7 hours per night (I sleep at 23h30 / 11:30 pm) and Sunday, my day off, I only do 50 minutes of cardio and sometimes a nap. He replied that he usually sleeps at 2h00 in the morning (2:00 AM)! Have less than 6 hours of sleep everydays of the week will absolutely not gonna help to get a better health !

It’s true that there are people who can sleep 4 hours per night. The people I know who do that, the weekends, they sleep a lot , a lot to re-balance the sleep’s hours and they’re not athletes. The body needs a certain number of sleep’s hours and athletes need more sleep hours. When we sleep not enough we are in a bad mood, bad mood = bad day, it’s simple.

Me too, before I slept late but it was to do what ? I’ll tell you, watching a TV show, playing video games, watching a porno. It was really anythings that improved my lifestyle, right ? When I realized good sleep could improve the quality of my mindset and my muscles, I created a new habit to do meditation before bed and put my smartphone on the other side of the room to not be tempted.

Since I do that, I’m better mood, I have more energy and my periodizations are better, the quality of my skin is better and there are lots of other benefits. When we were kids, this one who slept late was a « gangster » ,now, we are adults and life is so stressful that it’s really stupid to age faster due to the lack of sleep.

Lazy To Train ? Test Temptation Pack

In life, there are things we should do, things we need to do and things we want to do.

You and me, we know, it’s always the things that we want to do they have priority over things we should or need to do.

So that we have situations where we do the important things at the last minute and often with enormous stress.

But what’s the temptation pack

Katy Milkman of the University of Pennsylvania conducted a study on this concept . Here the study’s subject :

Participants were randomly assigned to two groups. The first group (full) has access to a gym with the option of listening audiobooks. The second group (intermediate) has access to a gym with a limited time for listening audiobooks.

51% of participants in the first group (full) and 29% of participants of the second group (intermediate) went to the gym more frequently.

It’s cool as an idea to be more consistent in his training program. Now we can adapt this concept for other things :

  • Do you like a TV show or a youtuber ? Take your laptop or your smartphone and watch it during your cardio (treadmill / elliptical)

  • Do you like your video game on your smartphone ? Play during your rest time between sets.

  • Do you like listening audiobooks or podcasts ? Listen to it while you clean your house, doing the laundry or ironing. This can be a task not very motivating as cook healthy meals.

Do you understand the pack temptation’s concept, it’s cool. Do things we should and we need to do by combining an element that we find cool. Tasks we find boring become less boring !
