I watched an Olivier Roland’s video  and I learned good stuff.

The most successful entrepreneurs are those who are the most curious. It has an extremely simple habit that the majority of the population doesn’t have. This habit is to ask questions but be careful, they’re use 2 way to ask questions :

  • By curiosity to try to understand the history, the motivation and the methods of a person or a company.

  • To question things that everyone agrees with. Are these things that everyone takes for granted true or not ?

It may be trivial, but how many people have met athletes, entrepreneurs or others great people who have just said : « Wow, that’s amazing what you did ». Then they could ask : « What motivated you to do that ? » or « Do you have a piece of advice that helped you on your journey ? » or « Do you make a stupid mistake that will stop you ? ».

When you ask questions about things that everyone takes for granted, you can sometimes find gold mines. What I means is that there are things that many people think is true when it’s wrong because they didn’t verify the information. So, this may be a gold mine that can make you rich at all levels.

It happens because we, human beings, have an imperfect representations of how reality works. That is, we’re like prehistoric explorers with rudimentary maps. The closer your mental map is to how the universe really works, the more likely you’re to do relevant actions, so to be more successful in your life in all areas of spiritual wealth (being happy, living long, create value, etc) and material wealth.

For example, Erico Rocha ( ooh, read this article ) is a Brazilian entrepreneur who has an incredible success in the information field in Brazil and he’s someone very curious. When you tell him one thing, he’ll understand that you have implicitly accepted that as a truth and he’ll question you on it.

You can do that too, and that opens doors that you never imagined.

Here is a concrete example. Many people think that handwork things are better than industrial things. This is a truth that most people have accepted without verified the information and this will influence their thoughts, decisions and words. Now let’s ask ourselves : « Is something handwork automatically better than an industrial thing ? ».

It’s true that there are some handwork things that are better than industrial things, but is a handwork book better than an industrial book ? We can ask the same question for a car, is a handwork car better than a industrial car ?

Analyze around you people who think that handwork things are automatically better than industrial things. Be careful, these people aren’t going tell you that explicitly. They’re just going to say things like : « Did you see ? I bought this wooden spoon, it’s pretty, huh ?!? It’s a handwork thing ». In this case, you can ask the question : « For you, are handwork things better than industrial things ? » With that you can analyze the way of thinking of this person on this subject.

With this habit, you’ll change your state of mind. This habit of asking such questions allows you to find those unconscious acceptances that influence our thoughts, actions and words. When you use that, it gives you a lot of advantage in life to be successful compared to people who don’t understand that.

Optimize your working time

Use Pareto’s Law by focusing on the 20% of your actions that contribute 80% of your results and using Parkinson’s Law to determine how long to complete a task.

Here are other actions to put in place to optimize your time :

  • Don’t disperse yourself

  • Stop multitasking – This has been scientifically proven to be a waste of time and productivity. Read this scientific study .

  • Stop interruptions – Things like smartphone notifications, emails or messages.

  • Group actions.

  • Remove unnecessary tasks – To find out if you’re doing a useless task, ask yourself this question from Peter Drucker : « Why am I doing this ? Is it necessary ? » With this question, you can easily delete unnecessary tasks. Exceptionally, you can use a notification on your smartphone that displays this question every 30 minutes. It’s a type of reminder all day long.

  • Identify the 20% of things and people that cause 80% of your problems and delete them. If it’s someone in your family, talk to that person 2-3 times a week instead of every day.

Automate everything you can

Many tasks can be automated in companies. For example to send messages on social media (I use Buffer  ). It’s possible to automate a sale on internet, it’s the customer who does everything. The customer looks for a product, uses his/her credit card by filing out the payment form of the website, and the bill created automatically based on the information provided by the customer, etc.

It’s also possible to automate a company, this is the case of Drop Shipping. Drop Shipping is when you sell products that you don’t have in stock and that are sent directly from the supplier to the customers. Amazon offers this type of service too, you can put in their catalogs products that you sell and entrust to Amazon for the stock’s management, sending and returns of products. There is also the case of muses that explains Tim Ferriss in his book « 4 hours workweek ».

Delegate

Focus on your strengths and delegate the rest. Create a list of tasks that you want to delegate with instructions. Then gives these tasks to a team by assigning each type of task to a specialist.

Duplicate

There is no point in reinventing the wheel. You can duplicate the recipes of your mentors success and use that in your own company.

Recycle

A job that you did can be reused in a different form. For example, articles from a blog can be used to make a book, a podcast or a video.

Determine your goal and strategy

Determine your goal, your process to reach it and the strategy to put in place. Here are some examples of strategies for developing your wealth :

  • Replace your salary with real estate income and start your own company.

  • Keep your work as employee and invest a maximum on stock market to create passive income.

  • Create a company to have a complementary income like a blog, a podcast or a Youtube channel.

  • Buy a piece of land and build several apartments (condos).

  • Etc.

Optimize your management to spend less money

  • Analyse the things you have to pay to eliminate waste : unnecessary subscription, insurance too expensive, etc.

  • Print your bank statement and analyze it

  • Seeking a way to achieve the same result by spending less : compare, buy cheaper, negotiate to save money for the things you really need.

  • Optimize your taxation by reducing your taxes.

Recycle your skills and your work

You can work on something once and get paid several times. You can create a seminar, keep 3 children instead of 1, you walk 5 dogs instead of 1, etc.

You can also use a job you have already done to create complementary income. Foe example, if you like to take picture, you can put them in stock photos on internet.

Duplicate the processes known to create wealth

  • Pay yourself first

  • Make money work for you by saving at least 10% of your income to invest them.

  • Invest in yourself with training to learn new skills

Here are the options you can use to create a company that serves your life (and not your life serving your company). With internet it’s easier to use these levers with a blog, podcast or a Youtube channel by creating content.

Everyone wants to work more efficiently to save time and make more money. There are 2 books to learn how to do this and I’m going to do a synthesis of 2. Maybe you already know theses 2 books, it’s « 4 Hours Workweek  » by Tim Ferriss  and « The One Minute Millionaire » by Mark Victor and Robert Allen.

Before you start, it’s important that you know that there is a special relationship between time and money. The idea is to better manage your time in your day to make your money work for you and make more money. There are several actions to put in place to do this and these actions based on 3 laws :

  • Leverage – Leverage gives you the speed to reach your goals faster. With a lever, you can control several elements. There are 5 types of leverage in 5 forms. We’ll see this in detail.

  • Pareto’s law.

  • Parkinson’s law

Let’s start with the leverage and its different points of support. There is a very interesting quote from Archimedes :

« Give me a place to stand, and a lever long enough and I will move the world »

Leverage allows you to reach your financial goals more easily and quickly. The higher the fulcrum is, the higher you can go up and far.

Money from others

Very useful in the real estate because the money of the banks and the tenant can allow you to have an additional income and a heritage. This heritage is largely financed by the money of others.

Skills of others

By meeting professionals who have more experience than you and mentors on your professional field, you can follow their examples. This allow you to access years of knowledge in a very short time, and avoid making mistakes that can cost you a lot of money and waste a lot of time.

Ideas of others

Find a partner who is willing to share ideas. For example to create your business instead of reinventing the wheel, you can join a franchise network to use and implement a business model that has been proven.

Time of others

Use the skills of someone who has more experience than you, by this way you can save. Delegate tasks.

Work of others

Support a team that is capable to manage things for you without you need to give last minutes instructions. Create a team with a list of instructions so that they are as autonomous as possible.

Mentors are an incredible source of information. Select the people who inspire you from the people who have succeeded in the field you want to master.

Team

It’s known to many we can accomplish more than alone. A team makes it possible to work in synergy and to find solutions more quickly. Find people who have the same values as you and who have complementary skills.

One of the best example of a successful team is the team Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs who together created Apple. Steve Wozniak is a computer genius, he created the first Apple computer, the Apple 1 and he largely created the Apple 2 that made the success of Apple. Steve Wozniak is a very nice person but at the time, he didn’t have the skills to sell these computers. Steve Jobs was a sales genius but he didn’t have the skills to create these computers.

Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs separately have never been able to create something as impressive as Apple, the association of these 2 people who shared the same values and the desire to offer people computers easier to use have marked the history of computer with Apple.

Networks

The more professional relationships you have, the greater the leverage will be. Grow your network in the areas where you want to share and work.

Skills and tools

Having essential tools to reach the goal and mastering the operation of theses tools increase success. Skills to master are the power of persuasion, rhetoric and humor.

Systems

Using a good system increases the chances of success. To make money, there are millions of systems (there are so many on internet). The perfect system has 5 characteristics :

  1. No need to liquidity

  2. No risk or little

  3. Require no time

  4. Require no management

  5. Require little effort

The truth is that is very, very, very difficult to find an investment system that has these 5 characteristics, but you have to try to get as close as possible to work less and earn more money.

Pareto’s law

Parkinson’s law or the 20/80’s law discovered by the economist and sociologist Vilfredo Pareto. This principle explains that 20% of the countries of the world share 80% of the wealth and that within these countries 20% of the people share 80% of the wealth. Here is the basis of this principle : « 80% of effects come from 20% of the causes », which means that a minimum of causes create a maximum of effects. Always try to identify in your actions or in your company, the 20% of actions which bring 80% of results.

Parkinson’s law discovered by historian and essayist Cyril Northcote Parkinson. This principle explain that the work extends so as to occupy the time available for the completion of a task. For example, if you put 2 hours to do a task that can be done in 1 hour, you still go for 2 hours. To have more time, we must force ourselves to have less. The basis of this principle is to do a task at 50% or 75% of the recommended time to do it.

In this section, we saw leverage, Pareto’s law and Parkinson’s law. In the 2nd part, we’ll see the 5 actions to be effective and the 4 actions to make more money.

Future Of Entrepreneurship Is Knowledge

I watched an Olivier Roland’s video  and there is good stuff.

Knowledge is the future of web entrepreneurship. Bill Gates published a text on 1st march 1996 « Content is king » . Read these sentences :

« Content is where I expect much of the real money will be made on the Internet, just as it was in broadcasting ».

Since 1996, we see that his prediction is confirmed.

Today with content, we can do more than most of companies did until now. Usually companies try to have loyal customers. With content we can create a truly tribe of fans. Seth Godin explains this in his book « Tribe » .

Seth Godin is a marketing’s visionary of 21st century. He anticipated a lot of change with the irrution of new technologies. As the way how companies communicate with theirs prospects, customers and now theirs communities.

All companies should create content even bakers, shoemakers or plumbers. We know today, content allow you to create a tribe of fans to have a truly privileged relation with your community.

The future

Content is the future because more and more functions in the job will be done by softwares, robots or outsourcing to low-cost countries. It’s the last years we can see humans taxi drivers and truck drivers. Quickly automatic cars will come and they will disrupt the entire industry of taxi and truck. Uber made its first delivery with an automatic truck (https://www.wired.com/2016/10/ubers-self-driving-truck-makes-first-delivery-50000-beers/). Uber invest a lot in automatic truck technology.

A lot of jobs will be do by algorithms. A book talk about this « Homos Deus » . Even a job as doctor will be disrupt by new technologies. Within 20 years, we will have sensors in our body or in watches, jewels, smartphones. Theses sensors will measure a lot of parameters in our body, upload those data in the Cloud and we will have access to diagnostic softwares more efficient than doctors. It already exist, IBM sell its Watson’s system to hospitals to reduce the number of medical error .

The truth is we can’t guarantee to anyone that his/her job will still exist in 20 years. And if you job still exist in 20 years, it will be deeply disrupt by new technologies.

It’s here knowledge’s economy intervent. We had agricultural revolution then industrial revolution and now we’re in information revolution. It means if you’re in information industry in 2016, you will be placed among jobs which are going to be the most difficult to disrupt by softwares, robots and outsourcing in low-cost countries. I can’t guarantee you that your job will still exist in 20 years but you will be well placed to accompany this wave of change. May be you can cause it a little bit on your scale.

The key to ressources and wealth in 21st century, it’s how to circulate information and knowledge freely. Old companies try to stop this revolution, they try to stop companies like Uber, Airbnb, etc. but it’s like beavers that make dams to stop a tsunami. We must embrace change, we must have a flexibility of mind and initiative that allow is to adapt to 21st century. If not all industries will be finished like music industry. Do you remember Napster  ?

There will be more and more important place for people who teach this kind of state of mind because school don’t do it. Beyond this state of mind, there will be an ongoing need for training on key competencies because the school has a too much great inertia. If you follow a computer course at the school, you can be sure that school is behind on what is happening now on the internet. It’s cool to have the basics but it’s better to have computer courses online with competent person.

There will be enormously weath that will be exchanged for richess of content,because this content is necessary to be able to adapt continuously to the change of 21st century.

If today, you want to be in the knowledge’s economy like blogger, youtuber, eBook writer, etc. Don’t hesitate, it’s now to create your place and consolidate it to be among people well placed in 21st century to bring value to others and generate value (added value).

Each entrepreneur should check the value he/she brings to the world. Create a new Pepsi is good but like said Steve Jobs : « it’s just sell water with sugar to people. It’s not what will improve the world ».

Fitness History – United States – The 1960 (Part 13)

President John F. Kennedy was a major supporter of fitness and health-related benefits to United States citizens. He continued the Presidential Council for Fitness Club Youth naming Bud Wilkinson as head of the council. The name was also changed to the Presidential Council on Physical Condition. Kennedy spoke openly about the need for the United States citizens to improve their fitness levels including with writing an article in « Sports Illustrated » magazine titled « The Soft American ». He said: « We are under-exercised as a nation ; we look instead of playing ; we ride instead of walking ». Kennedy has prompted the federal government to be more involved in the promotion in national fitness and launched fitness pilot programs for children. Kennedy’s commitment to fitness can be summarized in one sentence that said : « Physical fitness is the basis of all other forms of excellence ».

Dr. Ken H. Cooper, widely recognized as the « Father of the modern fitness movement » is generally known to encourage more people to train as any other individual in history. Cooper advocated a philosophy that has abandoned the treatment of disease by preventing the disease. « It is easier to maintain good health through exercise, diet and emotional balance than to regain once it is lost », he said. Early in his career, Cooper stressed the need for epidemiological data to support the benefits of regular exercise and health. Data from thousands of individuals have become the foundation for his aerobics concept. Aerobics released in 1968 sent a powerful message to United States citizens – to prevent the development of chronic diseases, we must do regular exercise and maintain a high fitness level throughout life. The message, programs and ideas of Dr. Cooper created the template from which the fitness proliferated until modern times.

The Lessons of History

The history of fitness depicts fascinating themes that are closely related in the 21st century. A common feature is the strong association of military power and politics with fitness throughout the progress of humanity. In many ways, this shows the impact of our world leaders can have on health and fitness.

The mind-body concept has had a precarious development. Sometimes some cultures prescribe spirituality at the expense of the body, while others, such as the Greek society, confirmed the idea that a healthy mind can only be in a healthy body.

Another interesting development from history is the concept of the exercise for the body and music for the soul. Fitness programs today have developed this concept harmoniously, music has became a distinctive element to the exercice experience.

It seems that societies become too enamored of wealth, prosperity and self-entertainment so that fitness levels drop. Also as technology progressed with humans, fitness levels declined. So, this is a resolution with which we are challenging societies today: Maybe using all the extensive research on the health and fitness combined with the creative minds of the fitness industry today, we can now solve this part of the fitness puzzle.

This is the end of our journey through time. Personally I learned a lot and I see fitness differently (it changes Photoshop’s delirium). I hope it was the same for you.

Fitness History – Roman civilization (200 BC. – 476 AD.) Part 4

The Roman Empire was the antithesis of civilization of ancient Greek with a high physical condition of all its civilization during his time of conquest and expansion. During this period, all Roman citizens between the ages of 17 and 60 were available for miliary projects. So it was imperative for all Roman citizens to maintain a good physical condition and be ready for service. The miliary training consisted in activities such as running, walking, jumping, and discus and javelin throwing. The result of this lifestyle is strong, people in excellent physical condition who conquered almost all of the western world. However, the general fitness level of the Roman population declined when individuals have been seduced by wealth and entertainment as gladiator fights. The acquisition and the excess of material things had become a higher priority than fitness. The luxurious lifestyle and the deteriorating physical condition caused the loss of the Roman civilization against the Barbarian tribes from Northern Europe that had a higher fitness.

The Dark Ages (476-1000) and the Middle Ages (900-1400)

The collapse of the Roman Empire was conquered by the Barbarians from Northern Europe was symbolized by the start of a millennium intellectual inactivity. However, these events were beneficial for fitness. The luxury life of Romans has resulted in a complete deterioration of the society ‘s fitness level. The Barbarians tribesfrom Northern Europe had the same characteristics as the primitive people. Their lifestyle consisted of hunting, gathering and farming. Physical activity and fitness are prerequisites for survival. So, despite the cultural setback that occurred with the fall of the Roman Empire, fitness experienced a revival during the Dark Ages and the Middle Ages.

Monday’s Mentality (Part 2)

A) Remove the “Reset” Button From The Plan

What makes that Monday is special. It’s a magical day we can have better results ?

The fact that the calendar says that Monday is the start of the week doesn’t mean you’re going to lift more weight and burn more fat than Thursday.

Take 5 minutes to meditate on this: Monday is just a day.

Is it because it’s the beginning of the week of school or work, it’s the beginning of everything ? Once you have done this, you can start (restart) your program any day of the week and it’s easier to stay on track.

I have a friend who advised me to start my program on a Thursday. My motivation was boosted throughout the weekend to continue. Usually Monday is the chest’s day , in my case it’s another day of the week so that I have all benches for me.

I even know people taking Monday as a rest day. It arranges them for their job because, it’s a really busy day.

B) Learning To Make A Small Errors.

If you think that what prevents you from achieving your results is not to follow your diet at 100%, you’ve got minimized your foods mistake, minimized the impact.

Learn to manage your small food mistake means you’re comfortable with the fact that sometimes you’re cheating with food. People aren’t perfect, especially with food and eat half a cookie doesn’t ruin your body’s transformation.

If you accept that, it will be easier for you to continue your program rather than stopping for several days.

Your Health Is A Wealth

Look this situation: You’re traveling abroad and you lose 500.-. If you’re like most people, you’re not gonna spend the rest of your money anyhow, you will reorganize your budget for the rest of the trip. Your diet is the same.

Imagine that you have a bank account of calories. If you cheat, you spent your calories in some frivolous things. Once you have spent your money on “frivolous calorie”, done everything possible to stop spending anyhow. Start your budget with 300 or 400 calories per week and manages it.

You’re going to have discipline on your diet and have a different attitude on your diet and cheating. Of course it will take some time to tame these little mistakes and forget Monday’s mentality.

But your first step is to be aware and just read this article you have an inestimable value to help you make those changes that will help you to achieve your objecives.

Whether to remove the temptation to make a new start or attitude to cheat about food, your best plan is to solve the problem faster. 1 of 4 spoil food is not the end of the world, nor spoil 1 day of 7.

Develop a true understanding and using these concepts give you the best opportunity for success.

The diet you follow depends on your tastes and your goals but the above strategies will help you to stay on track.

Taking control of the Monday’s mentality and learn to manage small errors are 2 steps needed to avoid the worst disappointments and walk on the path of success.
