Stop A Bad Habit

I watched an Olivier Roland’s video  and I learned good stuff.

You know, I had a lot of trouble stopping my worst bad habits. It was bad habits that sabotaged my life. Many people around me have the same difficulty I had because unfortunately nobody showed them a conscious step to stop these bad habits.

Think about it, eating healthier allows you to have better energy, better body weight and live longer. Just eating less pre-prepared meals and replacing that with healthy food allows you to avoid having hundreds of bad calories in your body and this make a huge difference in the long term.

It’s a concept that used in all fields of your life. I think you know the consequences of smoking and not playing sport ?

My old bad habits

Ok, I see you need to see concrete things so I’ll tell you the bad habits I stopped :

  • When I was 15 years old, I started smoking weed (marijuana) and quickly I smoked bong or water pipe several times a day. I stopped smoking when I started to train to have a body like 50 Cent. And after, I realized that I was smoking weed (marijuana) to get away from my daily worries. It was like pressing the « Pause » button several times in a day.

  • For several years, I have only read heroic fantasy’s books (Hawkmoon, Elric of Melnibone, etc) and no personal development’s books. It’s not a bad idea to read heroic fantasy’s books but read only that, it’s just entertainment. When I started reading personal development’s books, I realized that I had lost years of knowledge, references, tools, methods that today would be extremely useful to me. Fortunately, it’s never too late.

  • For several years when I was doing Karate or Kung-Fu, I had a bad diet. I only ate pre-prepared meals, pizza, fat foods, sweet drink, candy and I didn’t like vegetables. Today, I have a better diet and I’m proud of the result. Since I have a tool that allows me to have my diet under control, it’s MyFitnessPal  on my smartphone (except for my Saturday’s cheat meal)

I like seeing the reaction of people when I explain to them what I eat at breakfast : rice(or pasta) with meat(of egg) and vegetables. I don’t know why breakfast is very emotionally loaded while this is the easiest meal of the day to change. When you only have healthy food in your fridge and in your closets, you have no choice to have a healthy breakfast.

It may be because of childhood memory that people like to have sweet things at breakfast but our bodies are evolving and we need to feed them differently. A child and an adult don’t eat the same amount of calories to be operational.

Wait here is another bad habit that I stopped. I used to play video games for hours. Sometimes with friends we played more than 8 hours non-stop. Once I invited many girls to my condo to do a « before » with my friends before going to the club. We decided to take the bus (public transport) because we wanted to drink a lot of alcohol.

The problem is that with my friends, we were too focused on the video game and we missed the last bus. The girls had gone crazy and they made us understand that it was the last time we (me and my squad) did this (especially an ex-girlfriend, it was sex versus video games). Since then, I haven’t completely stopped paying video games but I play much less because I don’t buy the new video game console.

I guarantee you that having stopped these bad habits had an incredible impact in my life.

Now I have a question for you. What bad habits you want ? What bad habits can you replace with a good habits ?

I advise you to make a list of bad habits you want to stop. When you have chosen the bad habit you want to stop, put in place a simple action to stop it. You can’t stop a bad habit in one night. You need to have a constant simple action to have excellent result.

For example :

  • If you want to eat more vegetables, you can use this grandmothers tactic that is to eat vegetables before dessert.

  • If you want to watch TV only for 1 hour, read a few pages of a personal development’s book.

I have just enrolled in a Data Science course on Udemy  and I learned good stuff.

I know you’ve heard many times « Look this one, this is the job of the future ! ». The simplest thing I can do is explain why it’s interesting to learn about Data Science. This is extremely useful skills for the future.

The principle is that the more data there is, the more work there is for Data Scientists. Let’s look at the amount of data created in the world in the past, present, and estimate for the future.

130 Exabytes have been created by humans since the beginning of humanity until 2005. Ok, you didn’t understand. Don’t worry, it was the same for me. Let’s go back to the source.

The source, it’s 1 byte (1B) and 1 byte is the necessary place for a hard drive to hold a letter. For example, the letter « S » = 1 byte (1B).

You go to the next level and you multiply 1 byte (1B) by 1000 which gives you 1 Kilobyte (1Kb). A book’s page contains between 2000 and 5000 letters so we can say that a half of page of text is about 1 Kilobyte (1Kb).

I think now you understand better how we measure the amount of data in a hard drive. At first, I told you that 130 Exabytes (130 Eb) created by humans from the beginning of humanity until 2005.

In 2010, this increased to 1200 Exabytes (1200 Eb). In 2015, this increased to 7900 Exabyte (7900 Eb). The forecast for 2020 is that this will increase up to 40 900 Exabyte (40 900 Eb).You see how data creation is growing in the world, it goes very very fast.

With a graphic, it’s easier to visualize all that.

The blue line on the graph corresponds to the quatitiy that machines (computers) can sore. You see, there is much more data than what computers can store.

The red line corresponds to what Data Scientists can process as data. You see, there is much more data than Data Scientists can process.

Another important point is that the gap between the machines and the Data Scientists will increase over time.

There are very few Data Scientits in the world and because they’re rare, they’re expensive or their salaries are high.

As companies increasingly seek ou Data Scientists, universities and engineering schools are beginning to offer this type of trainining.

The fact that the number of data increase, the companies demand to have Data Scientist to proccess data also increase. This demand is so enormous that it’s expected that in dozen years, everyone will know the Data Science’s basics as the programming now.

I advise you to do research on Data Science, you’ll see, it can be used in any industry, it’s really interesting.

the past

All that we do in the past is done. The past passes and we can’t change anything. No, no, not like in the movie « Back to the future », no.

All that we do in the past shouldn’t be forgotten so that we can learn. Learn by asking the question : « What didn’t go well ? ». Our past created by our choices and our habits.

For good times, we need to keep it as an emotional memory without living in the past.

For bad times, we need to keep this for not doing the same thing in the future.

The future isn’t yet here. We worry for it destroys hope.

We have hope in the future. The hope is an excellent good thing, the best thing.

We can plan our future and always adjust our plans when necessary.

Tomorrow is a new day. If today is a bad day, tomorrow will be better.

Tomorrow isn’t guarantee. Death can take good people.

Present

Today, a new lifestyle can begin until death. When we choose, choose wisely.

We can do something that usually we don’t do. A new experience makes us become more mature.

We may not do something unhealthy that we do everyday. Change is a good thing.

We can take a better decision than yesterday in our life, our love, our health and our finance.

We can be better than yesterday.

We can do something today instead of tomorrow.

Today is the only thing we can control.

Future Of Entrepreneurship Is Knowledge

I watched an Olivier Roland’s video  and there is good stuff.

Knowledge is the future of web entrepreneurship. Bill Gates published a text on 1st march 1996 « Content is king » . Read these sentences :

« Content is where I expect much of the real money will be made on the Internet, just as it was in broadcasting ».

Since 1996, we see that his prediction is confirmed.

Today with content, we can do more than most of companies did until now. Usually companies try to have loyal customers. With content we can create a truly tribe of fans. Seth Godin explains this in his book « Tribe » .

Seth Godin is a marketing’s visionary of 21st century. He anticipated a lot of change with the irrution of new technologies. As the way how companies communicate with theirs prospects, customers and now theirs communities.

All companies should create content even bakers, shoemakers or plumbers. We know today, content allow you to create a tribe of fans to have a truly privileged relation with your community.

Content is the future because more and more functions in the job will be done by softwares, robots or outsourcing to low-cost countries. It’s the last years we can see humans taxi drivers and truck drivers. Quickly automatic cars will come and they will disrupt the entire industry of taxi and truck. Uber made its first delivery with an automatic truck (https://www.wired.com/2016/10/ubers-self-driving-truck-makes-first-delivery-50000-beers/). Uber invest a lot in automatic truck technology.

A lot of jobs will be do by algorithms. A book talk about this « Homos Deus » . Even a job as doctor will be disrupt by new technologies. Within 20 years, we will have sensors in our body or in watches, jewels, smartphones. Theses sensors will measure a lot of parameters in our body, upload those data in the Cloud and we will have access to diagnostic softwares more efficient than doctors. It already exist, IBM sell its Watson’s system to hospitals to reduce the number of medical error .

The truth is we can’t guarantee to anyone that his/her job will still exist in 20 years. And if you job still exist in 20 years, it will be deeply disrupt by new technologies.

It’s here knowledge’s economy intervent. We had agricultural revolution then industrial revolution and now we’re in information revolution. It means if you’re in information industry in 2016, you will be placed among jobs which are going to be the most difficult to disrupt by softwares, robots and outsourcing in low-cost countries. I can’t guarantee you that your job will still exist in 20 years but you will be well placed to accompany this wave of change. May be you can cause it a little bit on your scale.

The key to ressources and wealth in 21st century, it’s how to circulate information and knowledge freely. Old companies try to stop this revolution, they try to stop companies like Uber, Airbnb, etc. but it’s like beavers that make dams to stop a tsunami. We must embrace change, we must have a flexibility of mind and initiative that allow is to adapt to 21st century. If not all industries will be finished like music industry. Do you remember Napster  ?

There will be more and more important place for people who teach this kind of state of mind because school don’t do it. Beyond this state of mind, there will be an ongoing need for training on key competencies because the school has a too much great inertia. If you follow a computer course at the school, you can be sure that school is behind on what is happening now on the internet. It’s cool to have the basics but it’s better to have computer courses online with competent person.

There will be enormously weath that will be exchanged for richess of content,because this content is necessary to be able to adapt continuously to the change of 21st century.

If today, you want to be in the knowledge’s economy like blogger, youtuber, eBook writer, etc. Don’t hesitate, it’s now to create your place and consolidate it to be among people well placed in 21st century to bring value to others and generate value (added value).

Each entrepreneur should check the value he/she brings to the world. Create a new Pepsi is good but like said Steve Jobs : « it’s just sell water with sugar to people. It’s not what will improve the world ».

Let’s talk about success. You know the success definition is different for everyone. There are people who want to earn lots of money and others who want to create a happy family.

I noticed that people motivated by money or girls, once they have a lot of experience or They’re more mature have a different success definition. « Big Guys » of my neighborhood that made me dream with beautiful cars and beautiful girls, advice me to work on my legacy and work on my legacy right now ! They tell me all that money and girls, it come, it goes, but it’s a legacy that still exists after death.

I have professional athletes friends who tell me they don’t chase the money, they stopped it for years, they moved on. Make a living with a sport is very hard, harder than you think. Many people said to them to arrest because they never gain enough money but they managed and their success definition is to make a living with their passion, their passion is their profession.

To be successful, you have to work when people aren’t watching you, working in the moments when no one knows. You work when everybody don’t care, « What does a champion when he’s alone ? ». The famous boxer Joe Frazier said : « Champion are not made in the ring, they are merely recognized there ».

You’re not going to train just because you had a bad day and you want to destress. You’re going to train because you love it. Life is like legs day. Most people go to the gym and don’t train legs, result, they have a physical shit ! Do legs day, do squat ! For me it’s a good test to know who enjoys working out and who show off for the summer.

You know it will hurt, you know that 2 days after you will have pain in legs. In life it’s the same thing. You will have your tests and you will must fight to succeed and this is not necessarily at the first time. Struggle when you’re at the lowest point, struggle when nobody knows it because there is only you who can take care of your life. No matter whether in your studies, work or girls, you have to reach your goal with positivity and pride.

Time in life is very limited, very precious. That’s why when you will be old, you will can say : « I earned this marble that makes this house, I earned it. I left my mark on this planet and my future generations will see it ! ». That’s your job and if you want to achieve a high level of success, make a statue of you !

I want to share something with you, it’s because I have a friend who paid the price of something he did 5 years ago. Like you, I have friends who are going through bad time in their lives. This kind of thing has happened to me often and I haven’t made the right choice. When we have big problems, we don’t want to involve our friends in because everyone problems.

What make me felt super alone, you know that people will listen but they will not help you solve the problem for you, you are the only one who can solve the problem and sincerely you don’t expect other to help you solve the problem. But at the end of the day we are still human beings, we have emotions, feelings and we are sad.

Sometimes in this kind of situation, you feel the pressure to do something or you say to yourself: « No one cares about me so it’s useless for me to take care of me ». When you think like that, STOP, stop what you are doing and breathe deeply. Do right things that can improve your life, I know it’s easier said than done. But believe me, I have also been in these situations. You wonder how you can fix the problem as quickly as possible.

This is the best way to screw up your life. There is nothing wrong with doing the right things to improve your life ! I don’t care to know how long it will take to have it, I don’t care to know how the road is hard to have it because at the end of the day, I have no remorse, no regrets and I’ll be a stronger person when the problem will be resolved. That’s how you become a stronger person with taking this kind of decision.

There are people who don’t know this kind of situations, that they never fought for something, who had never made a decision that completely changes the life, that have not done things that are really annoying or did something that put them in an unstable position. God bless them, there is nothing wrong with that, good for them.

There are people like me who have been through this type of situation and at a time on the path there are always two options. There is the « easy » way, risky, dangerous but you can do it, it’s possible and there are tons of things to win quickly. And the other, the « hard » way, the one where you must get up early in the morning, where you the obligation to do several things in the day. It’s boring, monotonous but it’s the real way to take because you grow up, you gaining more wisdom and you become a better person. Train yourself to stay positive and productive, especially do legal things.

Nobody know how the future will be, absolutely not and that’s really cool because everydays you create your future. It’s like a seed planted in fertile soil, you will have a beautiful plant. You plant a seed in a non-fertile soil, you have nothing, this plant wil be useless. It can help you a while but this is temporary and it can even take you away your freedom, your dignity, your self-esteem or your life.

I talked about this because I have lived it, I was in a situation where I had no one to call, I was full of friends, classmates, co-workers, people around me to go to party, buy alcohol but when a big problem happens, where are they ? Not on my side, you know what I mean. So you must invest in your life by planting seeds in fertile soil.

What I mean is that often you’ll have to make tough decisions and choose a path that is not glamorous, not parties several times in a week. But listen, it will make you someone solid, you will get what is truly yours. You’ll have a better esteem of yourself, you will not worry about anything because what you have, it’s deserved.

And that’s the beginning, it’s just creating your foundation, your genesis because you will grow and you will continue to have good things. Now in my life, I have many great opportunities but I have been failures, I’ll not lie to you, I’m not an angel. I was in dirty stories, but I learned. Sometimes someone has to tell you what you should not do and sometimes you have to learn from yourself in the hard way.

It was difficult for me and it gave me more motivation to not be in this situation in the future, a situation where you can lose your freedom (prison), losing life (getting killed). This is why I have created my bubble, my fortress to protect everything I like and love, it’s a security bubble.

That is why I am a person who talks all the time to be positive, I motivates people, yes, of course I’m talking about training but there is more. Talking about fitness, it’s just the tip of the iceberg.

You know yourself that after the rain, there is the sun and life is the same.

There is nothing wrong in do the right thing for your life, it’s a simple sentence, but it’s so true. Everything is bad when you do a bad thing.

Maybe there’s someone out who is doing something now, that person is confused and doesn’t know what to do. Do right things for your life, if you need help, ask for help to someone, there is always someone who can give you a good advice and a good advice can help you to make the good action that will bring you to the solution.

I’ve seen people do things that put them in situations that we had never imagined and when it happens, it destroy your life and it’s too late, you spend your time regretting your act.

Everything I say comes from the heart and I know you feel it. So do everything possible to do right things to improve your life and your future generations.

After studying and used different diet to gain mass or dry, I can summarize all of the most popular diets in 4 lines, ready?

a) Eat more green vegetables

b) Eat less saturated fat

c) Do more exercise and burn more calories

d) Eat more omega-3

I will talk less about that. Not because it doesn’t work, they’re great, but everybody talk about and nothing else. Personally it bothers me and I feel like a different approach.

Let things be clear, I’m not a doctor and I didn’t study medicine. My father, my mother and my sister them, yes, without count my aunts. I heard a lot of hospital’s stories at home. Sometimes I even called them the “Hospital’s Mafia” when the band is here. From my side, I’m addicted data, I like databases analysis, this is why I graduated in this field and I have many friends athletes and coaches.

This put me in an unusual position.

I can see the traditional methods used in hospitals and innovative methods used with athletes.

Too much fat ? Tried to eat protein several time in the day at specific hours and drinking lemon juice before eating.

Not enough muscle ? Try ginger and sauerkraut

Sleep problem? Try increasing the saturated fat or expose you usually cold.

What I understood from the academic world is that they have so many years to get their doctorates or other titles they want to preserve it. They were trained for 20 years to not take any risks, I know they would like to experiment, but they risk to lose everything they built in 20 years for a research? The truth, universities don’t tolerate it, ever.

I can do it, I haven’t such constraints.

Many of these theories have been killed off only when some decisive experiment exposed their incorrectness … thus the yeoman work in any science … is done by the experimentalist, who must keep the theoreticians honest“.

A person who literally helped me to see life in a different way is Tim Ferriss with his book “The 4-Hour Workweek“. My professional life has completely changed, it’s not easy but worth it well. In 2010, he released the book “4 Hour Body” which I would like share with you. Tim Ferriss like this principle and the idea of ​​the book is to give you 2.5% of the most important tools to redesign and increase your body’s performance.

Vilfredo Pareto was a controversial sociologist-economist who lived from 1848 to 1923. His seminar explored a named later the “Pareto’s law”, better known as the “80/20 principle”.
