I watched an Olivier Roland’s video  and I learned good stuff.

These are comments that published regularly on social media. What is the difference between non-constructive criticism and constructive criticism ? Ask yourself this question : « Does this criticism have the will to help me ? ». If you don’t feel the will to help you, it’s like 95% of critics, it’s someone who criticizes just to criticize. These non-constructive criticisms based on an extremely superficial analysis of your content.

These people read the first 5 lines of an article, listen to the first 2 minutes of a podcast, watch the 2 first minutes of a video or read only the title.

When you publish content on internet, you’ll have people who will afford advice on what you do when they haven’t taken time to really understand, to analyze what you mean. It’s known that in communication there is an huge loss of the message’s meaning between what you mean, what you say, what people hear, what people understand and what people remember.

There is also an important factor is that in all areas, beginners have an opinion on everything and they say it. Does this give them a false sense of competence on topics they don’t master ? Yes, it’s ego on my opinion.

To be honest, it has happend to me to comment on something that I didn’t take time to analyze deeply. I gave my opinion based on an extremely superficial analysis and we all have already do it. Just understand that this is a normal human behavior and that it’s not a problem.

Attention, it’s not necesssary to remove these comments because they will never disappear. The goal is to reach enough people who understand your message and practice your advice.

To succeed on internet, you only need to have 1000 real fans. It means people who understand what you say, who agree with what you say, who like your content, who share and who buy your products. You can have 1 million people who hate you, if you have 1000 real fans, that’s enough.

Many people are afraid of negative comments and that’s a shame. Imagine yourself in 10 years. You talk to a person and you explain to him/her that 10 years ago, you had a blog, a podcast or a Youtube channel and that you stopped it because of a negative comment that touched you. Think about that, do you realize how ridiculous it is ? So continue to create content on internet.

In Europe (yes, I’m living in Europe), the law says that a consumer has 15 days to return a product he bought by mail. Products bought on internet are part of these purchases by mail as digital products, training or softwares.

The law also says that a consumer may waive the guarantee by checking or unchecking a checkbox to receive a product faster. Some companies have a procesure to wait until the guarantee’s period is completed before sending a product to allow time for the consumer to think about if he/she changes his/her mind.

The most interesting guarantee to make is a 30-day guarantee for online training. If you do a 1-year training, you can make a guarantee on results with conditions. If after 1 year, a person doesn’t have expected results despite that person has seriously followed and applied the training’s content by showing evidence, that person may claim the refund.

For the 30-day guarantee, there aren’t conditions. Whatever reasons, a person is systematically refund. It’s true that is interesting to know why a person wants to be refunded but it’s not obligatory.

Yes, it help you to have success because guarantee is a trial period for the entrepreneur and the consumer.

Consumer

Many people are anxious to buy a product on internet, especially if the product is digital. The guarantee make it possible to reassure them.

People who have hesitated to take an online training will continue to hesitate for 30 days but more intelligently. Because the 30-days guarantee are free trial days so they can see how it works, how is the content’s quality, how the community interacts with coaches, how is the track’s quality of each participant, etc. If your product is good, you’ll have more sale than refund.

Entrepreneur

This allows you to filter out annoying consumers. If during the 30 days, you see a consumer who demands weird stuff or complains, criticizes all the time or isn’t polite, you can say it’s better to stop and pay him/her back.

I don’t advise you to filter consumers when you start your company. You need to accept all consumers to reach your break-event point. Once you have reached a certain threshold of success, you can filter your consumers.

The guarantee is also a legal protection. When consmers aren’t happy, they leave, it’s simple.

With marketing, we can see human behavior and there are some surprising things. Here an exemple with a form to receive an eBook. We can have 10 % more conversion when we fill in the first name and email of a person in the form. We can do it only if the person is subscribed to our newsletter but this is show how people are lazy by nature.

Yes, 10 % more only because people just have to press the button « OK » instead to type their first name and email, surprising !

Something else. It’s true that you’re going to have people who will just register to enjoy the 30 days free but reassure you, it’s a very small minority. Most people are honest and if you gave a product that gives value and quality, you’ll have more sale than refund.

It’s easier to use this kind of guarantee with digital product but it’s possible to do it with physical products.

I read an Nerd Fitness article  and I want to share this with you.

Self-confidence can be quickly build ? This is one of the traits that everyone want to maximize. It’s a huge impact for the first impression.

To be sure that you and me are on the same frequency about confidence :

James Bond – He’s an incredible ability to stay calm and cool under pressure. He’s able to tell you a subtle « punchline » in incredible situations.

Your best female friend – she can initiate a conversation with anyone and become a good friend in minutes.

Your friend that quickly evolves into a company and you have the impression that he has it from birth.

I’m not speaking of people working for 6-packs or people who follow seductions courses (yes, I did, I admit). These approaches to build self-confidence aren’t complete, they doesn’t create a real solid foundation. If you read the Neil Strauss book « The Game », I advice you « The Truth, an uncomfortable book about relationships ».

The true self-confidence shows to the world who you really are (and it excites you). Think about your friends that changes behavior when they want to try to impress anyone. I know you’ve seen it several times and it’s weird !

It isn’t necessary to change who you are to impress someone, stay who you are and still progressing. We all work for progress, but we also need to respect ourselves. We work every day to self-improvement.

Could you think of what kind of self-confidence you want to build :

  • The quiet confidence of someone who commands respect ?

  • The boisterous person enters in a room and everyone wants to become best friends with ?

  • The lovable goofball that doesn’t take itself too seriously ?

Do you know that sitting in a certain way just a few minutes before an appointment or an interview can boost your chances of success ?

This is crazy, right ? This is really serious ! Just by changing your posture, you can psychologically develop more confidence in few minutes. You don’t believe me ? Ok, now uses a posture where you look to have a great self-confidence.

You feel better ? You feel you can do whatever you want ?

That’s non-verbal communication. This is how we stand, how we walk, how we look. Once you understand these things, you can « hack » your body language to increase your self-confidence unconsciously.

By having a self-confidence posture before entering a tense situation you’ll unconsciously adjust your brain to respond to this situation.

Here some examples of « great self-confidence » that you can use before an event where you need to have more self-confidence :

  • Hands raised above your head in a victory pose

  • Hands on hips like Superman or Wonder Woman

  • Legs crossed and hands behind head

  • Sprawled out across a seat

Social interactions can be a challenge for some people. Even the most confidence looking person can be a « zero » in social interactions and expects that other people start the conversation.

There are 2 important tips, scientifically proven, that will make you appear more confidence :

Smile – People will respond to the emotion you project. If you project « I’m happy and cool », they will want to be happy unconsciously. The best thing to do to have your brain happy is to start a smile. These studies A  and B demonstrates that. Smiling makes you happier and improves how you think and how you feel about yourself.

Look in the eye – This is a challenge for most people. Do you look the ground when you walk to avoid looking people in the eye ? Or if a person look you in the eye, you turn your head ? Most people do that automatically and shouts « I don’t feel safe ». As you develop your self-confidence, concentrate yourself to keep your eye contact.

An article about eye contact says that studies  have shown that people who had a good level of eye contact (look in the eye) were perceived a being :

  • Most dominant and powerful

  • Warm and friendly

  • More attractive and friendly

  • Most qualified and competent

  • More trustworthy, honest and sincere

  • More confident and emotionally stable

If you have an appointment or an intense conversation with your teacher or your boss, maintaining eye contact is a demonstration of confidence and self-respect.

Test ! While you walk down in the street, keeping eye contact with a stranger. If the stranger looks at you, keeping the eye contact even if your brain tells you the opposite and made a smile briefly and continue your way.
