Infopreneur

infopreneur, internet, information, product, laptop, entrepreneur,

What’s up ? This is THE stephane ANDRE !!! I watched an Olivier Roland’s video and I learned some good stuff.

I discovered what it was an infopreneur by reading Tim Ferriss‘s book « 4-Hour Workweek ». It was a book that was recommended in a personal development’s blog and this book has completely changed my way of seeing a « job ». This is definitely a point of view that we don’t learn at school, even at business school.

The profession of infopreneur is a very interesting profession and evolves all the time because of new technologies. In fact, if you don’t know, an infopreneur is a person who earns money on internet with information products. These information products aren’t news but they’re information to help people achieve a goal on a specific area.

What is special about this job is that we enable people to be more effective in things that are important to them and the result is that they’re happier.

Workplace

One of the advantage of this job is geographical freedom. The company is based on internet, which means that you only need a computer and an internet connection to work. There is no obligation to go to a workplace, you can work every day in a different place or in a different country as long as you have access to an internet connection. There are more and more jobs that allow you to have this freedom like programmer, virtual assistant, bookkeeper, data entry, copy writing, translator, travel agent, transcriber, etc.

It’s a profitable business because selling information on internet makes it easier to reach a large number of people with little money.

Distribution

internet company

Imagine how it was to sell a book before the invention of printing. Even if you had written the best book in the world, it was hard to live on it. Imagine, so that 2000 people can read your book, you needed 2000 handwritten copies of your book. Copying books was not a really cool job, so you can imagine how complicated it was. If you offer me a job that consists of copying 2000 books of 300 pages, I’ll answer you : « No, thanks !!! ».

With the invention of printing, authors started earning more mony because more people could read their books and that to increase later with the invention of copyrights.

With digital books (ebooks), it’s possible to sell 100 or 1 000 000 books without the huge costs of printing, distribution, storage and return management. There are still costs but they’re very low for the servers and the support (for example a client didn’t receive the email to download the ebook).

With internet, it give you the opportunity to manage the distribution of your information products yourself. Before internet, you had to have an appointment with a manager of a radio, television to reach as many people as possible. If this manager liked your work, you could have ads on radio, television but if this manager didn’t like your work, no ads.

Many talented people couldn’ have a great exposure to make known their talent because of these « Gatekeepers ». Internet allows you to no longer need to these gatekeepers to reach a large number of people.

Improve Discipline

discipline

I watched an Olivier Roland’s video  and I learned good stuff.

Here is how I worked, a few year ago. I had a project that I really wanted to do and I thought to myself : « When I come back home tonight after eating, I work on it ». And after eating, I preferred to play video games or watch a TV show until sleep. I think that situation has already happened to you.

Regret is a poison

regret

Now I realize that if I had done these projects, I would have had more fulfilling lifestyle, I would have leaned to manage my money earlier and I would have interesting contacts earlier. Maybe I wouldn’t have had it all earlier but in any case a part, that’s for sure.

Discipline and productivity are important skills to create and evolve a project. I did project but these weren’t my most ambitions projects. These weren’t projects with big risks, so I dissatisfied inside of me. The problem is that all this insatisfaction transformed into frustration.

There are a lot of things I wanted to do in theory and that I never did.

As you know on my blog, I mainly talk about fitness/bodybuilding and I notice that many people enroll in a gym with a 3 months subscription and go to the gym only 2 times. This is a classic case.

Know that there is a solution because before I had very little discipline and productivity and now it’s improving more and more.

Track you progress

track progress

To have more discipline and productivity, you need to make sure that this is a long-term goal. This requires several years to have concrete results like for sport. We would like to have results right away but the best things take time because it’s an exploration in yourself.

This is not going to be Disneyland every day because there are times when you’re going to tell yourself you’re not going get there. That’s why you need to keep track of your results. It’s interesting to note why you’re less motivated to continue your project to better understand yourself. You’ll read books on personal development, follow training, meet people who have the same goal as you. With this methods you’ll build your own toolbox to improve your discipline and your productivity.

What is cool when we keep track of our results is that we can see our evolution from month to month, year by year. It’s funny to see your results 2 years ago to really realize your progress.

Increase your success

increase success

To find a way to improve my discipline and productivity, I read on internet that enrolling in a group of people who shared the same goals as me could be extremely motivating. So I looked for websites and Facebook’s groups. What is interesting in groups is that every week a person offers a challenge. Then everybody share their results and everyone shares their impressions.

It’s also possible that you find a person in your entourage who has the same goal as you. I find it really cool to put people around you into groups because the more people there are the greater the motivation.

You see, the fact of telling everyone that you are challenging, force you to be disciplined and productive to complete the project. And there were always funny punishments for people who didn’t show their project. And little by little, you improve and often you have proposals to make competitions.

I used to do this for sport at first but this concept is used in all fields such writing, photography, dancing (I like dance salsa), cooking, etc. And in all these field there are competitions several times in the year. Here is an example that astonished me, watch the paper airplane world championship .

No need to be a shaolin monk

shaolin monk

By tracking your results, you’ll find ways to boost your will without it being painful. You know, you don’t have to work to have the discipline’s level of a Shaolin monk, you just need to have a discipline’s level that allows you to make your projects a reality.

Several scientific studies have made an important discovery in order to better understand human beings. This is because the will is an element that trains as a muscle to develop. Which means that to develop your discipline, you have to train it like a muscle and it doesn’t happen overnight.

Here are resources, this article. Kelly McGonigal’s book « The Willpower instinct ». Viktor E. Frankl’s book «  Man’s search to meaning »  on attitude and discipline in the worst circumstances.

Be Curious And Effective

curious

I watch an Olivier Roland’s video  and learned good stuff.

I personally like to learn new things in different fields. Generally these are fields that I don’t know at all. This stimulates my curiosity especially when it’s something I don’t know and I see a lot of people using that. I think it’s the same for you.

That’s right, I’m curious and I like learning but how to be curious and learn a new thing effectively to use it as quickly as possible everyday ?

How long to learn

the right time clock how long

This is something that I’m always adjusting but there are some fundamental principles for it to work.

Here is an excellent example : speaking a foreign language. I hope (and if not, I advise you to learn another language) that you’re a person who speaks a foreign language at a level that allows you to have simple conversations.

Now do a little analysis. How long did it take you to reach this level to have simple conversations (a level that allows you to understand 80 % of a conversation or a text) ?

As everyone is unique in his/her method of learning, imagine that with effective learning techniques, it took you 2-3 years to reach the 80 % level of understanding in foreign langage. How much time do you think it is necessary to move from a level of understanding of 80 % to 99.9 %?

The truth is more impressive than you think. To go from the understanding’s level of 80 % to 99.9 % (the native’s level), it’ll take you 20 years !

You know, it’s not necessary to have a 99.9 % level of understanding to be bilingual. If you understand subtile jokes, you can consider yourself a bilingual. On the other hand, if everyone around you laughs and you wonder why, you aren’t yet a bilingual.

What is effective

effective

It’s destabilizing but it’s a reality, it’s faster to go from 0 % level to 80 % level than to go from 80 % level to 99.9 % level. This is the law of diminishing returns. This law works in all fields. This law is similar to the Pareto’s principle. The Pareto’s principle is the fact that 20 % of actions brings 80 % of results, 20 % of customers brings 80 % of the company’s turnover , etc.

This means that at one time, it’s more costly to learn the little things that remain to be learned in this field than to learn something new in another field.

Let us continue with the foreign langage’s example. It took you 2-3 years to get an understanding’s level of 80 %. In the next 2 choices, what’s the most interesting for you ?:

  • To spend 20 years to reach the 99.9 % level for a foreign langage

  • To spend 20 years to learn 6-10 new foreign languages at a level of 80 %

You see the number of opportunities you can create in your life by knowing how to speak several langages, it’s cool.

But there is a difficulty in knowing when the law of diminishing returns is put into action, This is a difficult question to answer because it depends on the individual and the field. It’s a personal expedition. We must also not confuse this with the « crossing of the desert » that everyone does when we start a new project.

The thing I do and I advise you is to track your progress to know when 20 % of your actions bring you 80 % of the results. With this tracking of your results, you can know everyday if you approach or if you move away from your goals. If you move away from your goals, it means that you have to adjust your strategy quickly.

When you have found a smart way to track you progress, it’s cool because you have an intellectual horizon, cultural horizon, tools, methods, strategies that are extremely varied and diverse that the majority of people. You have an effective toolkit that comes from an extremely varied horizon.

You can see in my blog’s articles that I speak of different field. I’m curious and I show what I learn by giving my sources because I find that being curious give me excitement to be alive. When you travel to a country where you don’t understand either language or writing, it’s exciting, right ? You can do the same thing on a daily basis by learning things in different fields.

Assemble different concepts

assemble assemblage

Now, let’s move on to the next level in curiosity. When you know extremely different fields, have fun connecting the concepts to each other. There is a type of creativity that involves linking concepts in a new way. Have fun connecting concepts that weren’t thought to be linked together and create something new. Look at how music evolves. You take 4 music’s types that nobody listen to, you mix all it and you create a new music’s type.

Today, we have the facility to have access to knowledge with books on billions of subjects. There are books on money, cooking, foreign languages, etc.

Attention, you need to learn in an efficient way with the principle of 20/80 and action (execution) everyday, no matter how difficult. If you learn all these things only to give you a good conscience and to impress your friends in discussions, you waste you time. It’s intellectual masturbation, it’s an illusion. It’s like this expression of Julien Greaux : « To be rich on Instagram, it’s like being rich in the game Monopoly ! ».

I hope that I motivated you to explore and learn new things effectively. And most important, you learn these new things to use them every day to boost your lifestyle.

Content Blog (Part 2)

inspiration

No inspiration

Attention ! If you didn’t read the Part 1 click here

Wait for inspiration to write is like waiting for inspiration to speak. If every time we needed to be inspired to speak, we wouldn’t say a lot.

Just do it – Start before you feel ready because we’re never ready. « Being ready » means what ? It’s not ready, it’s « I’m preparing ». This isn’t a state, it’s a movement. When we understood that wasn’t a state, we have to start.

Fail

People are afraid to fail for two reasons :

  • Being ridiculous – The article is published, it’s embarrant because maybe it isn’t good, blah, blah, blah. Ridicule doesn’t kill, it’s not an excuse.

  • Fail – It’s a shame because the risk is so low and so inexpensive. It takes a little time to write and published. Before to publish an article, you should have seen a person in a suit and convince him to publish in his newspaper to have an audience. Now we can have a audience in 2 minutes even if it’s 2 people and it can grow to millions. There is no risk, the investment is low, the price of the blog hosting (EUR 35.-).

No time

« The problem is not the time, this is the priority ». When we’re students, the only thing that is important is the exams ! True, stop saying bullshit. If we had the answers to all exams, classes would be empty except for exams. Writing is a priority because writing, it’s become everyday through articles, the best version of ourselves. Becoming better is a priority because when we write, we are seeking the gold that is within us. Gradually, we find it. This thing don’t come at the first time. Discover this potential is a priority !

Why

why

Write allows to decant our thoughts. It’s like an old wine of 10 years. We open and we wait 1-2 hours he decants for it to open, for it expresses all its potential to be enjoyed at its true value. Our mind is like it. It’s like wine, we must decant our minds. They need our minds step down for things that express their true potential. Today we’re all time connected. In this world of constant connection, there is no time when we can observe our thoughts, observe what we want to do. Write allows to do that.

Write to build something. We must build something, anything, that is fundamental. It’s to build an audience but also build in the head, it’s a reflection constructtion, build expertise. It’s to build something strong and will become stronger with time. Build with the words.

Write allows to become a better reader. Better life’s apprentice. At school we learn to know and then tell to everyone what we know. And when school is finished, we stop learning. When we begin to write, of course we read what others have written about our subject. We read, we read, we read and we have a cycle of reading and writing.

In doing this we’re developing « mirror neurons ». The principle of « mirror neurons » is that every time I look at a person to do something, I have exactly the same part of my brain that is activated as the person who is doing it. If you look at me plant a knife in my hand, your brain will think that this happens to you and the same parts of your brain will activate. The only difference is that your skin will tell to your brain that it’s not you. This changes everything (empathy), when I look at a person to do something, I have the same parts of my brain that are activated and so I learn by seeing. That’s the way the prehistoric men shared their knowledge. It’s the same writing by reading other articles.

And you ? You hesitate to create your blog ?

Blog Content (Part 1)

blog content

There is a The Family’s video of Hugo Amsellem (french)about blog content that I find excellent and I want to share this with you.

When we have a passion, we can create content and the smallest step to create content, it’s a blog. But most people have excuses. Here are 4 excuses :

Audience

blog audience

Nobody will read what I write – Obviously, at the beginning there will be nobody and it’s normal. Understand that the first audience, it’s you. Then there are your family and friends who will perhaps share some of your articles. Blogs have started in 1995 and they had no social networks. They were compelled to share theirs articles by email to friends and they managed to have millions of subscribers.

Having an audience is secondary – Doesn’t consider an audience as a reward for creating content. You must create content regularly because you love doing it. You have to love to write for yourself. Have the largest number of subscribers or followers isn’t a reward.

Expresse yourself – In our society there is very little time when we can really express ourselves. Except when we take a photo on Instragram to show our life, perhaps. With a blog, you can release a creation potential, it’s worth.

Write – Write a blog about an industry, a subject or a passion, it’s the first step of entrepreneurship. This helps to organize ideas and thoughts. We have full of ideas all the time, we get a lot of output that gives us ideas. If we keep these ideas, they will not give a place to new ideas and that’s what kills creativity. Expressing these ideas regularly allows you to be more creative. Creativity is the key to entrepreneurship.

Style

seth godin

I write badly – Seth Godin himself says that early in his blog, he was bad. Now he writes bestsellers and this is one of the most respected people in marketing. To reach that level, he disciplined himself to write one article per day, no matter if it’s 2 lines or 10 pages. Articles by articles, he became better from day to day. We must realize that all superstars, at the beginning, were bad in their field. Good writing from bad writing. People who are born with a talent for writing are in art or literature schools, these aren’t people who want to start a business. As Seth Godin says :, « The first draft is always exist and no one started with something other than a bad draft thinking – what am I going to say ? ».

Spelling mistakes – It’s not an excuse because now there are brilliant spell checkers. People consume content so that when they find great content with a few mistakes, it’s okay. Are you dyslexic ? You have no excuse, do it.

Courage – When we publish an article on a blog or elsewhere, we must be told who we are authentically. When we’re genuine, we put ourselves naked. Writing is the organic extension of ourselves. The word courage comes from the Latin phrase heart and courage, originally meant : « Tell who you are with your heart in your hand ». So when we start, we are bad and we must remember it because no one has started already good.

And you ? What prevents you to create content ?

Fitness History – United States (1700 – 1860) Part 8

united states colonial period 1700

United States – Colonial Period (1700 – 1776)

united states colonial period 1700

Trials of colonial life ensured regular physical activity, however, during this period exercise programs or fitness programs didn’t exist. United States were an undeveloped country with a large portion of unexplored land with uninhabited regions. Lifestyle during this era was for plowing the land for crops, hunting for food and herding cattle. This lifestyle provided a sufficient level of physical activity to maintain a good physical condition.

United States – National Period (1776 – 1860)

united states national period 1776

Fitness in the United States during the national period was influenced by European cultures. Immigrants brought several aspects of their heritage in the United States, including gymnastics from Germany and Sweden. The invasion by foreign countries were a constant threat to the independence and nationalism countries. This dynamic was common in Europe but not in the United States. German and Swedish gymnastics programs have failed to achieve the same levels of popularities as in Europe.

However, the first leaders of the United States were aware of the need to exercises and fitness. Benjamin Franklin recommended regular physical activities including running, swimming and basic exercises of resistance training to have good health. President Thomas Jefferson recognized the need of fitness but perhaps in a extreme measure : « Not less than 2 hours per day should be dedicated to fitness, no matter the weather. If the body is weak, the mind will not be a strong ».

The beginnings of physical education in the United States

As for Europe, schools were an important way to spread the necessity of fitness in society through physical education programs. However in the United States, the educational process focused primarily on intellectual matters. Schools focused on teaching traditional subjects such as reading, writing and arithmetic. Physical education has remained absent from the public education system for most of the 19th century. Despite the lack of interest in fitness during this period, J.-C. Warren and Catherine Beecher have made significant contributions to the future of fitness in the United States.

Dr. J.-C. Warren, a medical professor at Harvard University was an important supporter of physical activity. Warren medical experiences have given him a clear understanding of necessity for regular exercise, his recommendations included German and Swedish gymnastic exercises. In addition, Warren began developing exercises for women. Catherine Beecher developed fitness programs specifically to meet the needs of women. Among its many different fitness program, there was a gym program done with music. Although not officially recognized by the name, Beecher’s programs of the mid 19th century are much like actual aerobics.

That’s all for today. Soon the rest of the fitness history
