I like to share the techniques, tactics and methods that I tested and worked for me and for others. As an athlete, I like to see my potential’s extent, I like to win and I like to see people around me win. It’s always frustrating to see someone who has a talent and isn’t fighting to realize their dream.

Often when I discover something in a book or someone shows me a technique that I test and that works, I want to say to the world « Look this technique works, try it right now ». That’s why I created my blog.

Challenges

I watched a The Family‘s video  (I wrote an article about it Part 1 , Part 2 and Part 3). I decided to publish 5 articles per week for several reasons :

As an athlete, I like to push my limits. Posting 5 articles per week has forced me to find themes that fascinate me so I can enjoy learning new things and writing articles about it. Every day, I’m looking for new things. There are articles I write and don’t published because I realize that it doesn’t fit my vision.

At the beginning of my blog, you can see that I write articles to introduce some bodybuilders and I stopped doing that because I decided not to talk about athletes using steroids. With challenges, it allows me to refine the vision of my blog and my failures are part of the learning process.

From, 2014 to 2015, I published 1-2 articles per week. Toward the end of 2015, I watched a video about a 30-day challenge. After watching this video, I decided to write 5 articles a week for 30 days and after published 1-2 articles a week. During the 30 day challenge, it was difficult for me to write articles (find subjects and find the time to write texts) but my blog’s traffic seriously increased. When I took the rhythm of 1-2 articles a week, I felt less stressed because I had less pressure but my blog’s traffic of my blog had decreased.

I started to get frustrated because one of the important things for a blog is to have traffic. So, I started again this challenge of 5 articles per week during 30 days by writing only on topics where I have fun. My blog’s traffic increased like the first time. Frankly, it’s cool because I know that with this frequency, I can reach more people. And that allows me to develop my business. Yes, it’s possible to bring value to the world by bringing value to yourself, thus making money. Both are compatible.

Today, I have prospects and clients coming from my blog. People read my articles, it’s free and then they send me emails or messages with social media to find out if I can solve one of their problem.

Learn

With this frequency of publication, 5 articles per week, it allows me to accelerate my learning curve. You can see the difference of writing between my first articles and my last articles. I improved my writing style. All that, it took me a long time and I know that I have a lot of things to improve. And I also learned that success is something that builds little by little. There is no success in 3 months or 1 year. Success is a thing in the long run. You learn to make the difference between lies and truths to have a healthy life in all areas.

For 1-2 years, you can see I’m learning to make videos on Instagram and Snapchat. I make 5 videos a week. Since about 6 months, I make an audio file (podcast) on my old exercise articles. In this audio file, I read the article so that you can have the information in a passive way. You can listen to my audio file while driving, working instead of listening to music. Making videos and podcasts are things I learn to do for my blog.

Have fun

Sharing content frequently no matter the format, text, audio, video, it’s something that I do with fun. People are asking me how do I keep doing this for years. The answer is that I have fun when I do that. It’s like when I train or dance Cuban salsa. When I do that, I have fun and if I can learn something to improve myself, I do it.

I know there are people who create content to make money quickly but it doesn’t happen that way. You need to do this for 3-5 years for free to build your reputation and then you can afford to make money. That’s why it’s important to have fun when you do that because the difficulties come, you see them from a different angle. There is no cheat code so have fun.

Data Science Underrated Job

I have just enrolled in a Data Science course on Udemy  and I learned good stuff.

I know you’ve heard many times « Look this one, this is the job of the future ! ». The simplest thing I can do is explain why it’s interesting to learn about Data Science. This is extremely useful skills for the future.

The principle is that the more data there is, the more work there is for Data Scientists. Let’s look at the amount of data created in the world in the past, present, and estimate for the future.

130 Exabytes have been created by humans since the beginning of humanity until 2005. Ok, you didn’t understand. Don’t worry, it was the same for me. Let’s go back to the source.

The source, it’s 1 byte (1B) and 1 byte is the necessary place for a hard drive to hold a letter. For example, the letter « S » = 1 byte (1B).

You go to the next level and you multiply 1 byte (1B) by 1000 which gives you 1 Kilobyte (1Kb). A book’s page contains between 2000 and 5000 letters so we can say that a half of page of text is about 1 Kilobyte (1Kb).

You go to the next level and you multiply 1 Kilobyte (1Kb) by 1000 which gives you 1 Megabyte (1Mb). A 500 pages book is about 1 Megabyte (1Mb).

You go to the next level and you multiply 1 Megabyte (1Mb) by 1000 which gives you 1 Gigabyte (Gb). A human genome (coded) can be contained in 1 Gigabyte (1Gb).

You go to the next level and you multiply 1 Gigabyte (1Gb) by 1000 which gives you 1 Terabyte (1Tb). If you take an HD camera and take a picture every day, every hour for 80 years. All videos can be contained in 1 Terabyte (1Tb).

You go to the next level and you multiply 1 Terabyte (1Tb) by 1000 which gives you 1 Petabyte (1Pb). If you take all trees of Amazonian forest to make paper and you write text on both sides each paper, all this paper represents between 1 and 2 Petabyte (1-2 Pb).

You go to the next level and you multiply 1 Petabyte (1Pb) per 1000 which gives you 1 Exabyte (1Eb). All existing data on planet Earth is contained in 1 Exabyte (1Eb).

I think now you understand better how we measure the amount of data in a hard drive. At first, I told you that 130 Exabytes (130 Eb) created by humans from the beginning of humanity until 2005.

In 2010, this increased to 1200 Exabytes (1200 Eb). In 2015, this increased to 7900 Exabyte (7900 Eb). The forecast for 2020 is that this will increase up to 40 900 Exabyte (40 900 Eb).You see how data creation is growing in the world, it goes very very fast.

With a graphic, it’s easier to visualize all that.

The blue line on the graph corresponds to the quatitiy that machines (computers) can sore. You see, there is much more data than what computers can store.

The red line corresponds to what Data Scientists can process as data. You see, there is much more data than Data Scientists can process.

Another important point is that the gap between the machines and the Data Scientists will increase over time.

There are very few Data Scientits in the world and because they’re rare, they’re expensive or their salaries are high.

As companies increasingly seek ou Data Scientists, universities and engineering schools are beginning to offer this type of trainining.

The fact that the number of data increase, the companies demand to have Data Scientist to proccess data also increase. This demand is so enormous that it’s expected that in dozen years, everyone will know the Data Science’s basics as the programming now.

I advise you to do research on Data Science, you’ll see, it can be used in any industry, it’s really interesting.

Create the Headquarter

I read a Nerd Fitness article  and there is good stuff.

We need to set up our own environment to buid our success.

Do it like superhero, look :

  • Bruce Wayne has his Batcave to create tools to fight crime.

  • Superman has his Fortress of Solitude

  • Tony Stark has his lab and J.A.R.V.I.S for his Iron Man suit.

It’s our turn to create our own headquarter to have success.

Our brain

We’re creature of habits. More we do an activites regularly, more our brain need to use less his energy to do this activity.

Remember when you learned to drive a car, you was very very focus because you had to be attentive to :

  • Check mirrors

  • Hand at 10 and 2

  • Turn on blinker

  • Step on the right pedal

  • Keep head on a swiel and watch out for other cars

When you learn to drive you’re always tired after a session with a car and it’s normal because you create new habits. Now, you know drive, it’s a habit. You don’t think about what you must do when you driving, it’s almost instinctive.

It’s the same things with others activities like brush teeths, make a phone call or ride a bike.

When you do an activities a lot of time, your brain create a new and faster pathway that need less brain energy.

We need to build better habits by decreasing the amount of brain energy needed to do them.

Your decisions, your environement

There is 2 places where you spend the most of time :

  • Your home

  • Your School/work/spaceship

Objects from these environments influence your behaviour. Your brain analyze everytime what is around you and what you do when you see these objects :

  • If you see a vendor machin, your brain will say : « I can buy something to eat ».

  • If you see candy on your desk, you brain will say : « I can eat a lot of sugar »

  • When you see a couch and a big TV, your brain will say : « I can have a lot hours of entertainment here »

Now, look new habits we want to build :

  • If you want run after school/work – You need to avoid to sit on your comfy couch and avoid your rerigerator. The solution is to go straight to your bedroom to put your sport’s clothes and sport’s shoes and you go straight outside. You avoid all the house’s distractions.

  • If you want cook healthy meals – You need to eat befort to go shopping at the supermarket. You need to avoid all fast-foods on the road and go straight to the supermarket. In the supermarket, you buy only what has on the list and you go back straight to home to cook a healthy meal.

  • If you want to stop to check your messages on your email or social media 25 times per day – You need to try and force your brain to say : « I’m focus on the task I’m doing ». This case is the same thing that to type a blog’s article in middle of Disney’s World Park.

Audit your headquarter

There is several exemple of how you can do an audit to your own headquarter to take better decisions.

  • Watch too much TV ?  Cancel your annual subscription tv or cable (you will save a lot of money). Buy an Android TV (Google), Apple TV or Netflix and paid only for the shows you want watch. It’s difficult to watch shitty shows and you can’t change to watch your favorite shows.

  • Lose your time on your computer ?  Block yourself of website you check every 5 minutes (Facebook, etc). I will write an article to increase your productivity with your computer.

  • You want run every morning ? Sleep with your sport’s clothes and your sport’s shoes next to your bed. Put your clock alarm across your bedroom.

  • You want train after school/work ? Prepare you sport bag before you sleep and put your sport bag in front of your front door to don’t forget it. By this way after school/work you will go straight to gym.

  • You play to much to video games ? Unplugged your system. By this way each time you want to play, you have to plug everything and when it’s finished, you unplug everything. Video games are cool but we must not forget the real game of life.

  • Tired to eat junk food ? Throw out all junk foods of your house. Because you know, it’s hard to eat junk foods at 9PM when you have only healty foods.

Note : Don’t make a lot of change at once. Stay focus to build one new habit to delete a bad habit. It’s easier to replace a bad habit by a good habit.
